HRH Rate

Some of you know that I booked our upcoming trip back in January. We had a confirmed reservation for $276 a night, and I had the email confirmation to prove it. Last week, I called to confirm things because I had a feeling that I needed to. I found out that they had raised my rate $100 a night. The CM I spoke with told me that her supervisor told her that there was nothing that they could do and that I should be happy that I got such a good deal since the rate for what I have is now $455 a night. I was not happy. I spent over an hour today getting things straightened out. To make a long story short, I emailed the manager in reservations my confirmation and my confirmed rate that I booked back in January is being honored. The manager even sent me an email to take to the hotel with me in addition to my confirmation email saying that my rate will be $276. This just goes to show that it is always a good idea to call and confirm things.

Yes, it's always good to confirm.

Though I suspect that if you had brought the paperwork that you had you still would have gotten the same rate.

But it's much nicer to take care of that now, then when you are on "vacation"

Does everybody book a year in advance?

Guess I'm used to Disneyland and two months before...

Re: HRH Rate

I think that is crazy!!! To hear a supervisor say that there is nothing you can do about the additional charge and that you should be happy getting only the $100 a night increase! Unheard of!!!! Especially at the happiest place on Earth!!! That supervisor should be happy that he/she still has a job! Now I will stop my nastiness! But you are right... you should always confirm your reservations! I am glad to hear you sorted it all out!

WOW! I am so glad that you called them and confirmed. I am even more glad that you insisted and got the original rate. I wonder how many other people don't know.

I am sure that alot of people don't book a year in advance. I booked this trip soon after returning home from the last one. I wanted to surprise the kids this year since DD found out about the surprise last year. I did alot of planning early on and then told her that we would have to cancel our trip because we did not have the money. Since we have moved to Texas and now own 2 houses--ours in Michigan is still for sale and probably will be for a while, it was pretty easy for DD to believe that money is too tight for a long vacation this year.

Dana, I was thinking the same thing as I was being told that they would not change the right and I spent an hour this morning on the phone. My DSister would have given up once the original person on the phone said that there was nothing that could be done and that she should be happy that the rate did not increase to the $455 rate. It was definitely worth the hour of my time to keep from spending an extra $400. The manager did tell me that if I make any changes to the reservation after today, then I would not have the rate locked in. I told her she did not have to worry. No matter what happens, I will NOT be making any changes because there is no way I would pay $455 a night for a hotel room. I thought I paid alot last year when we paid $400 a night to spend the week between Christmas and New Year's there.

Sorry Alma. It's the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal. Not Disney at all.

Re: HRH Rate

Gee when I first read this thread I thought HRH meant Her Royal Highness because the Queen would be the only person able to afford those rates.

I don't know if any of you had read my post "My friends sad disney trip"...but it defintely pays to confirm your ressies. She had such an unfortunate and awful time a few weeks ago....they didn't even have a room for them at WL when they checked in. She never did get things resolved....you are very lucky you called and got this taken care before getting there. Wheww! What a relief to know its confirmed....but I would still take all your correspondences and confirmation emails, etc. with you .....just in case!
