Time Needed for Universal

Hi Y'all,
My family (6 in all, kids are 14,twin 10's and 7) are planning a trip for next summer. 7 days hopefully on-site at WDW, then 2 days SW..and..
How many days should we allow for both Universal parks?
2? 3? Is 4 days 2 long?
What do ya' think?
Thanks,
gw

Re: Time Needed for Universal

Personally, I don't think you need 2 days for Seaworld. Unless you're planning on less than full days.

I would say at least 3 days for Universal. One full day at each and one day to repeat the things you loved. But if you can do 4 days, go for it. They will have special nighttime events in the summer, and of course there will be crowds.

Can you stay on site at Uni to get the Front of the Line passes? That would get you so much more in a lesser time.

Re: Time Needed for Universal

If you're staying on-site at Universal you get express access for every attraction (except Pteradon Flyers), so it's worth considering a hotel change for that. The resorts there are wonderful too, and you will have plenty of time to enjoy them with the express perk. If you're staying off-site you will need more time, depending on what time of year you go. But as ddoll said, 3 days should be fine.

We did universal/islands of adventure in 3 days in the Summer. We did stay on site and use the express access which was so worth it.

Re: Time Needed for Universal

Anywhere from 2-4 days is fine. I guess it depends on what your family does. If you guys like the rollercoasters and thrill rides, you might want to use 3-4 days. If you're just going to look around and check things out, maybe ride a few things, go for the 2 days.

I think you only really need one day at SeaWorld (and this is from a marine biology freak). But you definitely need at least two days at Universal.

Re: Time Needed for Universal

You definately do NOT need two days at SeaWorld. When we visited their in 2003, we were given free second-day passes to use any time within the next 7 days. After being their for about 6 hours, DW and I wondered what we would do with a second day.

A fun 1/2 day attraction that is often overlooked is GatorLand. My kids loved it.

Without meaning to hijack this thread, we've talked about this issue before, and I don't care for the idea. To me, Walt Disney treated all people with equality and respect. While I do believe on-site guests should have some perks, like package discounts or even extra hours in the park, I feel every guest who entires a parks' turnstiles should be treated equally. Everyone should have access to fastpass. Everyone should have opportunities to experience the magic, regardless of their hotel choice.

Cavey brings up a great idea- my kids LOVE GatorLand. They beg to go back every trip

As for Universal, stay on site if at all possible- 3 days maximum needed.

Definitely 1 day at Sea World and at least 3 days at Universal and IOA. Universal has a lot of attractions that you will want to do at least twice.

I feel your pain for the Flying Unicorn! I do not know how many times we went on it..but it was a lot! Since we had the express pass I could not use the "the line is too long let's come back later" line! DD loved that ride!

Re: Time Needed for Universal

If you can do 4 days at Universal onsite, that is what I would recommend. You can ride all that you want to as many times as you want, and still have time to relax at the pool. We like to do Universal at the end of our Disney trips so that we relax more and go home feeling refreshed instead of feeling as though we need a vacation to recover from our vacation.
