Universal studios questions...

We are going to Disney for 2 weeks next December, (3rd time for a Deisney trip), I was thinking that we might take a day or 2 & go to Universal. Do you all think we should take time away from Disney to do this? It may be the last time we take a trip to Disney for a long while, so I was thinking that I may not want to miss the opportunity, but only if it's really worth it.
If you think we should go, should we take 1 day or 2?

Re: Universal studios questions...

I say GO FOR IT. Especially if you are going for TWO WHOLE WEEKS!

Universal is offering a RIDICULOUS deal to go right now...7 consecutive days for BOTH parks..$89!!!!!!!!!! The ticket doesn't expire until 7 days after the 1st day of usage.

Universal may not be for everyone, but I think it's DEFINITELY worth a visit for sure. I used to go there every trip, but haven't been in years. We WILL go back one day. They really do have some cool rides there...especially if you like THRILL rides! Spider Man is probably the coolest ride I've EVER been on.

GOOD LUCK DECIDING!!!

Re: Universal studios questions...

we enjoyed Universal when we went... I totally understand your not wanting to leave Disney- but 2 weeks is a nice time... so you won't miss out- you'll just gain! try to get your WDW tickets for 2 days less so you don't waste your money unless you have an AP or something---

Re: Universal studios questions...

I think you should definitely give it a try. Most of us who have been really love it. As much as my family loves Disney, a trip to FL isn't truly complete for us until we have a Universal visit too. In fact, as my kids get older, they prefer Universal.

It's not Disney, dont' even try to compare them. Enjoy it for what it is. The rides are great, the theming is top notch and they have something there for every age group.

I think 2 weeks will give you plenty of time to spare a couple of days at Uni without feeling you're missing something.

Re: Universal studios questions...

I'm actually considering giving a day to Sea World, just to fufill my curiousity. I think its good to try new things, and keep in mind that it won't be Disney, so don't expect that. Just an addition to your vacation memories.

BOTH Universal and Sea World are great! And well worth a day or two. It's nice to take a bit of a break and with two weeks, you'll have ample time.(If you find a silver bracelet with a silver heart charm at Universal - it's mine).

Re: Universal studios questions...

I am adding a day of IOA and Sea world to this trip. I also am going for 8 nights. I think it's totally worth it to add something new to an already great vacation. I am very much looking forward to checking out both parks. I won't miss more than two days of WDW however and am spacing the days out so it's not two in a row..lol

Re: Universal studios questions...

Thanks guys, I think we'll probably go for it, just have to decide if we really want to use 1 or 2 days. Would 1 day be enough? Take into consideration that we are not big on thrill rides. Can we go between "IOA" and "US" in the same manner that we can go between parks @ WDW?

I know they have two park passes. I just read about them. I don't remember seeing a one day, two park pass. I only remember seeing a two day. two park pass...I could have missed it though. If you are going to be there for two weeks, get the two day/two park pass. You guys could always head back over there one day during your second week.

Also, if I remember correctly the 2 day 2 park pass does not expire. If you get it and only use 1 day, then you will haveanotehr day that you can use on another visit.

Re: Universal studios questions...

If you only had 1 week booked for your trip then I would say don't bother this time and leave it for another time but as you have 2 weeks then I persoanlly think it's a must. I would take 2 days to do it and do both Universal's. You will love the original park and IOA is great for rides.....esp HULK and Spiderman! The deals are so good at the moment and I really think you will enjoy it and would be kicking yourself if you had the opportunity and didn't take it.

Re: Universal studios questions...

There's no transportation between the parks, but they are close enough to walk between them. Especially if it's your first time, you will want one day per park.

Re: Universal studios questions...

I just need to start doing some "figuring" with regards to how we will plan to go there. You see it sort of gets complicated because of booking with Disney. We always stay on site. This poses a problem with booking because I need to decide ahead when we will go to US so I can book a "room only" night with no park passes attached to that day. It will actually mean 3 bookings for us since we will book the 1st half of our trip with the meal plan, & the 2nd half without. (Unless I hear that Disney will allow us to use a table service credit at a counter service restaurant.) Anyway, I guess I just have to start serious planning , that's all.
