Offsite/Onsite - family of 5
We were planning to stay at All Star Sports in June but my husband's business forced us to move our time up to May. Once we decided to move I looked at offsite hotels and was able to get a kidsuite for five nights (booked online) at the cost of one night on property. We loved onsite the first time we visited Disney and I was really looking forward to being on property this time (I don't think my boys, 3, 4 and 11 will care either way).
My only problem is why aren't there any value priced resorts for a family of 5? In order to be comfortable we needed two connecting rooms at ***. The next availabe room to accommodate all of us was POR and we were required to get the trundle bed. So I'm dissappointed that we aren't staying onsite but this was the best deal this time. Anyone else feel my pain? We have 26 days until we leave for Disney...yeah:D

I know how you feel, we have 5 kids. I think part of the problem is that the rooms are so small at the All-Stars, it would be cramped with 5. Port Orleans French Quarter is the least expensive that will sleep 5, but even with discounts, you are looking at $110 per night. (the discounts expired on Saturday though)
I wouldn't be surprised that the next Disney resort is a moderate, that is a mini-suite that will sleep 6. There is a huge demand for something like this, and with the exception of the wilderness cabins, nothing fills this void on property.

I am glad to see this question come up. The next time we go to WDW we will be taking the kids, so it will be the 5 of us. In my opinion a value resort for large families would do quite well. Our kids are still quite young and could probably fit just fine in the value resort that is meant for 4 guests. But I am sure there are some kind of fire codes or something that prevents them for allowing above 4 guest no matter how small they are. :)

I know exactly what you mean. Right now we are fortunate as our "5th" is only 2 so we can get away with a regular on property room if need be. But not sure what we'll do in two years from now.

Always nice to know I'm not alone! The five of us stayed at the CBR at our last visit but my youngest was only 9months at the time.
This trip we are staying at the Holiday Inn Main Gate East in a kidsuite for $398 for 5 nights. :) Not onsite but definitely in my price range since hopper tickets for 5 are quite pricey. We're driving so it won't be too bad being 3.2 miles away from the parks. By the way Mickey, is there somewhere I should write, email or call to complain/comment about this?

Dee, have you stayed at the HI Main Gate East before? Just a FYI, their "suites" are simply a hotel room with a piece of plywood to separate the beds from the sofa bed. I have read of others' experiences with this hotel on other Disney boards and none were complimentary. Just wanted to give you a heads up. The price certainly can't be beat, but this may be one of those things that fall into the "you get what you pay for" categories. On the other hand, it may suit your needs perfectly.
Regardless, I hope you enjoy your trip to WDW. |

The only other place on-site are the cabins at Fort Wilderness. They can hold your whole family. Plus the Murphy bed would be great and some of them have bunks beds also. You could call and see if there are any opening they are a little high price but you would be on property. And it would be a great place for the boys.

We've never stayed at the HIM but we'll give it a try. Hopefully it won't be a sore spot in the vacation since we don't plan to spend much time in the room! Of course, I'll let you guys know.
JMouse thanks for address! We'll it's off to the mall as we have 20 days until we leave for Disney !!!:D :D I've lost my counter we can I find how to add it again?
