Nick Hotel
Has anybody stayed at the Nick hotel. We are looking at possibly staying for a few nights in May. Any suggestions? We are doing WDW from Oct. 6 - 13 and have to travel to FL again for a wedding in the spring. (DD4 and DS 2 1/2, DH and myself) in the spring.
8 Days in Disney is not enough in my opinion so we are not going to Universal this time around. However, I am considering price and the fact that we were just there 6 months before and thinking after the wedding that maybe we should drive up and stay at the Nick Hotel for 3-4 nights. Sorry to ramble, just trying to weight my options. So, in your opinion is it worth staying at the Nick Hotel or just staying is Disney? |

Re: Nick Hotel
Everyone is going to have diffrent oppions on this one. I, myself, stayed at Nick this past Dec. and I would not stay again unless the price droped to a really LOW price. For me it is one of them been there done that no intrest in doing again thing. I will tell you why I say this.
First I felt like a prisoner or being in a hospital. I liked that the only ones that could get on the lots were people staying there that had keys. But you have to ware a hospital type band on your arm the whole time you are there so they "know" you belong there. If it gets destoryed or lost you have to pay 25.00 to get a new one. Secondly the rooms were big-2 rooms, living room and bath-but the beds were hard as a rock. And also under the chair there was trash from past guests. Thirdly the staff did not seem like they cared too much about anything. I took my nephews over to play put-put and someone had droped ice cream all over the put-put and i went and told someone and they were like ahhhhhh well it is calling for rain sometime tonight or tomorrow it will was away then. the life gaurds at the pool stood in a little circle at the end of the pool talk not caring about what was going on in the pool. You would think that for the price you the kid activitys-doing tshirts and such-would be included, not so you have to pay more for them. The gift shop has Nick stuff but nothing says Nick Hotel it all says Universal-if I wanted something that said Universal I would go to Universal not to a hotel. However on the up side of things. The food was okay. They have characters there at breakfast. The themeing was nice. And also they have a ps in the rooms so you can bring games (something they did not tell us) or you can rent them from the game room. I will give you this bit of info if you do stay I would go on to their website and book it now and pay it off at the time of booking-you will get a better rate then booking it and just putting a dep down. And they will not send you anything in the mail and if you call them to talk to them or make reservations they put you to the national Holiday Inn Res system. And also right now they are doing that thing that if it is someone in the room's birthday you get a free night when you pay for 2 nights. dont know if that will be going on when you are there or not. In the end I would take the disney tickets turn them in to AP's and stay at Disney but that is just me. Or if you want to do sea world/universal I would look else where.

Re: Nick Hotel
If you are looking for something different from Disney you may enjoy it. We went to WDW last year at the end of September for 7 days. We drove from Illinios, so we wanted to relax before driving home. So we spent 3 days at the Nick Hotel. At the time my kids were 6 and 1.
We had a good experince. We had a really good rate of 149.00 a night the 2 bedroom kids suite. The kids had a bunk bed and we had a queen size bed. There is also a living room/kitchenette area. Our room overlooked the water slide/ slime bucket It was nice for the kids to have thier own room to sleep! We went to the character breakfast. Kids really enjoyed that. The pool areas are a lot of fun. There are splash pad areas for toddlers/babies that are gated off room the rest of the pool. Yes they do give you a wristband, but many resorts do. It did not bother me. We went to an all inclusive resort in Mexico, and we had them there to. I guess it helps to identify guests and kept non guests out of the hotel/pool. We were in a Fairly Oddparents suite. However it is not Disney! We just kept in mind that basically it is a Holiday Inn. In our experince the rooms were clean and well kept. Staff we encounted were polite and friendly. DD did the Nick at Night Halloween program and she enjoyed it. Kids really enjoyed the pool. I think it is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the parks and a nice way to relax. I would go again if I could pay a similar rate. Good Luck with your choice! |

Re: Nick Hotel
For the same price - We decided to spend quiet time in a Wilderness cabin - still at Disney but very relaxed. Lots of fun for the kids too!

Re: Nick Hotel
We stayed there last year for 3 nights and it was HORRIBLE!!!! I wouldn't recommend the Nick Hotel to my worst enemy. My husband, kids and I all couldn't wait to check-out. Thank goodness we decided to go and rent a car because if I was trapped there for 3 days....it would have been ugly.
The on-site staff are completely incompetent, the rooms aren't all that, etc. Stay at any WDW resort and you'll be so much happier.

Re: Nick Hotel
I was thinking about this for my upcoming universal trip in Dec. For the price I would rather stay at Disney but we are not doing DIsney this time around so think about staying on universal property. I booked the holiday inn and was able to get 4 nights 12-27 12-31 and 4 peoples tickets for 601.38

Re: Nick Hotel
My sister stayed there with her 3 boys last year. They all loved it.
We added two nights at the Nick Hotel onto our Thanksgiving trip to the BCV. We'll see how it goes. ![]()

Re: Nick Hotel
we stayed at the NIck Hotel for 3 nights in April of 2006. My kids loved it and we really enjoyed it also!! My kids were 3 and 5 at the time. The pools are really nice and the room was not bad either. We had a Spongebob room so the kids had their own bedroom!! The staff was really nice and helpful- we got to Orlando a day earlier than we thought we would so I called when we were about 4 hours away and they added the night for 150.00!! The other night I believe was 210.00- I had reserved it a couple monthe before hand. We got a free night for signing up for the Total Rewards Visa!! We will be going back next year after our Disney trip and I have enough Points(points that you get for staying in a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express, not that you get for using the visa) for 2 free nights!! Hooray!!!! Good luck with your decision!!

Re: Nick Hotel
For the price rent a DVC Villa! I can't say this enough. You get Disney, and you get a decent price. I will forwarn you ...you will get spoiled. You can rent a villa on disney property for as little as $125 a day ... which is much cheaper than the hotels on site or the Nick hotel.
