Cape Canaveral question
We are planning our next trip in December, and hope to finally fufill DH's wish to visit Cape Canaveral this trip.
However, there's supposed to be a launch on Dec. 6, and we were planning to go on Dec. 8. Does anyone know if we would be able to tour the Cape if there's a delay in the launch, or while a shuttle mission is in progress?

Re: Cape Canaveral question
It has been years since I have been to CC.. but I was reading on their site that they do not have the tours and admission on launch days. My "guess" would be if the launch has to be rescheduled for say the 7th or 8th.. then the same rules would apply. I'm thinking you will have to wait and see.

Re: Cape Canaveral question
We were there on NASA property for last week's launch. We took a VIP tour with Gator tours and apart from the 3.30am wake-up time the day was truly memorable. Here is a link to their tour information for the December 6 launch
http://www.gatortours.com/NewSite2/TOURS.asp?TOUR_ID=99 I know you're not necessarily planning to go to the launch, but you may find the information useful. I seem to remember them saying that if the launch didn't go ahead then we would still be able to come back for the launch itself (at an extra transportation cost) so I think that maybe if the launch was delayed then you would not be able to get in. Last week's launch was originally scheduled for 17th, then went out to 20th and finally launched on 23rd, which was great for us as we were at sea on the first two dates. So there is plenty of time for the launch still to be rescheduled for after 8th. Just keep an eye on the NASA site and perhaps ring their helpline. ![]() PS if the link doesn't work just go to www.gatortours.com and click on 'tours' The shuttle launch tour is near the bottom of the list.

Re: Cape Canaveral question
Thanks, both of you.
We're arriving late the evening of the 7th, so we know we'll miss the launch if it goes on schedule. And since we can't get into any on-property hotel that night, we thought we'd go ahead and find someplace part-way to the Cape that night and go there for our first day in the area. And hey, if the launch is delayed so that it goes that day - we can go watch it even if we can't go tour the site. No loss there! I'd love to see a launch. It's all good... ![]()
