Hotel Help Please!

We are considering driving for our next trip in February. Since we will probably be getting in late, we thought we might stay off property for the first night. Any recommendations you would have for us would be great.

Re: Hotel Help Please!

What about a Value for the first night? Or why not try Priceline? It's only 1 night...you could probably get decent 4 star accomodations in the WDW area for $40.

Hmmm....Thats a possibility, I never really thought about staying at a value. I just figured we would be getting in late and I didn't want to pay for the deluxe rate getting so late and would probably just crash when we got in. (We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge)

I guess I thought if I were staying on Disney property that night, I would be like that kid in the commercial, "Too excited to sleep!"

Re: Hotel Help Please!

I've stayed at a few of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd. near DTD. The Marriott Courtyard, Doubletree and Hotel Royal Plaza were all very nice.

Re: Hotel Help Please!

When we needed a quick over night stay we stayed at Best Western Lakeside. A really nice hotel that is clean, safe and really close to the WDW gates. Lots of stores and places to eat all around the hotel too.

Re: Hotel Help Please!

On our 1st nights, we usually stay at one of the Values but our 1st night for Spring Break we stayed at Country Inn and Suites and found it very nice and enjoyable. It's about 10 minutes from the MK if I remember correctly (really the TTC because we ran over there that night to activate our AP's and then proceed to stay an additional 5 hours). You also get breakfast included too. I think we paid $89 or $99 per night for a suite that had 1 King and a sofa pull out..2 TV's...the kids opted for the pullout with their own TV vs 2 Queen sized beds and a TV to share with us. Not bad when you consider you get cookies whenever you want and nice breakfast for 4...2 teenagers included (enough said, huh?) for that price. Check out their rates online...they usually are running some kind of special or discount.

We stayed at this place when hurricane Wilma hit Palm Beach! It was really nice and a straight drive into WDW. They served a great buffet breakfast too. I'd recommend it.

Re: Hotel Help Please!

Thanks everyone!

I will check out all the links and run it pass the group. We talked a bit about it at my nephews B-day party today and DH liked the idea of staying at one of the values. I'm not sure which way we will go yet.

We actually talked about another trip and taking my nephew next summer! If so, we might be staying at one of the values and it would be a good chance to check them out.

Does anyone know how comfortable the beds are? I have a bad back and need to have a comfy mattress to get a good nights sleep. The matresses at the deluxes have always been super comfy.

I think this was where the Band stayed during their last trip to WDW. It was reasonable and had decent reviews from those that stayed there.

Not the same as a deluxe, but the rooms have been recently updated, so at least the mattresses are still firm.

We stayed at the Poly when Wilma hit South Florida. It had to have been the most nerve wracking stay at WDW we've ever had.
OK, we were already there and it was booked in February, so I guess it doesn't count. Especially after we got run over by Katrina in South Dade and probably wouldn't have left home for Wilma.
On topic, I'd just stay at a value for the one night and be done with it.
