Option 1 and just do pop tarts, etc. Don't bother brining something to cook.

I also voted for #1, but like Dopey said, leave the appliances at home. Who wants to cook when your on vacation? Enjoy those character meals.

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

Does the hotel have a fridge? Even if it didn't, I still go with option one and get a cooler and ice to keep juice and milk cold. Cereal, breakfast bars, etc. I think I would be trying to get the kids to hurry up and eat while at the buffets. (can't waste disney time) And then they would be hungry an hour later cause they didn't have a chance to eat. (I know, I'm a bad mom) With eating in the room, one could be getting ready, the other eating. Or how about bringing those "cups to go" to drink milk in the car with those breakfast bars. I don't know how old your kids are, so the last idea might not work.

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

Would you really take the time to go eat a full breakfast every morning? We're always rushed getting ready in the mornings as it is, I can't imagine trying to eat every morning before hitting the parks at rope drop from on or off site. You're going right after Christmas right? The parks are going to be crazy busy and I would want to get there before the gates opened and last year MK had Extra Magic Hours that started at 7 am. We didn't have time for a sit down breakfast before getting to the parks at 7 or 8 am.

I agree. I would hope it's against the law to cook in a hotel room that doesn't have a fire extinguisher in it. I would hate for someone to start a fire and possibly hurt people by cooking in a hotel room.

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

Option #1, but don't cook in the room. Just bring quickie items or do a grocery stop when you get there. Don't use the shuttles at the off-site places...get a car. I have yet to read a good review on a free shuttle service at an off-site hotel.

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

I went with option one.

Howard Johnson is a well-known hotel chain, so you know about what to expect. The shuttle to Disney would be difficult to plan around, and I'd suggest driving, anyway. As for breakfast, if you went with option two, then you'd probably feel obligated to eat at the resort everyday, and though it would be handy, option one leaves you with more variety.

Now, I almost jumped at the ice cream and arcade tokens, but although your kids would probably enjoy the arcade, it's just like gambling, and once you get started you just can't stop. So unless these tokens are endless, it could start digging into your own pocket. I think in the end, your kids would appreciate more souvenir money than more gametime.

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

I think LMM has a great point. We had an arcade across the street from our house growing up and we dumped so much money into those machines it was crazy. When we ran out of money, we would run home and ask Mom for more.

Very addictive!

The reviews I've read on the buffet aren't that great.

The convenience of it all would definitely come in to play and if the ONLY other option was to bring a skillet for eggs, I'd still pick Seralago! (The trouble of cooking breakfast in a hotel room does NOT sound like vacation!)

BUT

Since you can do one morning character breakfast AND do easy stuff like pop-tarts, cereal, toaster waffles, etc. then DEFINITELY option 1 is better.

Does the ho-jo have a fridge/micro?
It does for xtra $10 per day. I have a cooler which we will use for ice everyday but I may get the micro/icebox room

I do plan on getting there early but are the extra hours for onsite guest?

For me personally I have to go with breakfast included because that is what just works better for my family. But you have to choose what's best for yours.

Sorry, I forgot about the off site part of this whole thread.

That means you need to be there at 8 if MK opens at 7 for EMH. I haven't looked at the park hours to see when you'll need to be there but you'll have to look and see if you'll have time for breakfast before leaving for the parks.

We don't care to sit in a restaurant first thing in the morning, so it's an easy decision for me!
