Please help me choose (poll)

Ok.. So I have came up with 2 different choices for my Dec trip.

option #1

7 nights at the Howard Johnson Main Gate East
$357 with taxes and $5.00 per day charge.
No breakfast included. No free shuttle to Disney.

Option 2

7 nights at Seralago Hotel resort
Includes Breakfast buffet for me and 2 kids every day. Will have to pay $6 per day for 1 kid
Also includes tokens for the kids in the arcade and also Ice cream vouchers per day.

all that for $595 including taxes

so what should I do?? If I did option 1 I can bring a toaster and make waffles and perhaps a skillet for eggs and things.. Brings snacks and different breakfast items and save $240 perhaps go to a Character breakfast 2 of the morns OR just do option 2 and not worry about the breakfast at all but no Character buffets.. What should I choose and why???

I would choose #1. Bring Pop-Tarts and Muffins and stuff that's easy to eat on the go and then use your savings for a character breakfast.

I say save the extra money for spending at Disney. Save time cooking by bringing some grab-n-go breakfast treats for the kids...nutrigrain bars, string cheese, yogurt, etc. as well as cereal and milk. Then, splurge on a character breakfast or two.

The only stipulation to this would be the lack of shuttle. How much is it going to cost to get to the parks every day and park?

Thanks guys!! I ask my DH and he said he could care less and walks away. He is a Disney hater!!
I do want to save the $ and use it for seaworld or something else... Im just going nuts because I have never really stayed off site before.
I was going to drive so the free shuttle never came into play..

I chose option1. I agree with the quickie breakfast items. And that savings can be used for the character meals if needed. I was also gonna ask about how you will get back and forth to the parks.

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

Okay, maybe I was hasty in my vote for option 2. We personally bring our own breakfast stuff....but if I was staying offsite, I might rather fill the kids up before we left in the morning, snack at lunch and eat dinner....but I forgot you were all OOP for meals...okay, I vote Option 1. Sorry.

Breakfast for us is cereal or toaster waffles, so I'd say option 1. Those $300 would buy a lot of cereal and ice cream cones!

I agree and say Option #1. I was also wondering how you would handle getting back and forth to WDW?

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

I agree with option 1. If the only reason to choose Seralago is the breakfast buffet, then I wouldn't.

The reviews I've read on the buffet aren't that great.

The convenience of it all would definitely come in to play and if the ONLY other option was to bring a skillet for eggs, I'd still pick Seralago! (The trouble of cooking breakfast in a hotel room does NOT sound like vacation!)

BUT

Since you can do one morning character breakfast AND do easy stuff like pop-tarts, cereal, toaster waffles, etc. then DEFINITELY option 1 is better.

Does the ho-jo have a fridge/micro?

It looks like #1 is the best option, like everyone has said you will have more money for Disney.

Re: Please help me choose (poll)

I say do the cheaper one- you can pack a suitcase with poptarts, muffins, oatmeal to go bars and eat on the run. That way you also have snacks for after hours as well and a free suitcase in the end for souveniers. And yuo also get to do some character meals- I know you are going to be sad that you are not onsite and this would make it a little less sad for you

Do whatever you must, but please leave the waffle iron and other appliances at home.
If I'd ever catch anyone preparing food in my cottages that don't have kitchens, I would throw them out in the street
