Sheraton World Resort International Drive

:)
Were are due to leave the UK for Florida the week after next, and I wondered if anyone has stayed at the Sheraton World Resort on International Drive in recent years ?. Having just read the earlier report about the Sheraton Safari it has me a wee bit concerned !!
Having visited Orlando on five occassions we find it more convenient for our needs, and usually stay on International Drive, at the Quality International. This time we thought we would have a change and chose the Sheraton. Any feed back on this hotel would be most appreciated.
If nothing else this hotel is not very far from our favorite eating place the Bahamas Breeze.
Cheers,
Moofy

Moofy, welcome to DisneyCentral, enjoy your stay. I know that Herbie here used to work for Sheraton, and he is very familiar with all of the Sheratons in Orlando. I will try to get him to respond to your question. I have heard that it is nice, and it was recently rennovated. Its a bit away from WDW, but not too far. Maybe a ten minute drive.

Have a great trip.

Thank you Mickey, I would appreciate any input Herbie may have on this particular Sheraton Hotel.
To be honest, we did stay at this hotel for 5 days back in 1993, and we really enjoyed our stay there, just hoping the standards are the same.
Cheers,
Moofy

Moofy,
Welcome to the boards; you'll have a great time here. I haven't stayed at that Sheraton, and I also read the posts about the Sheraton Safari. I can tell you that we stayed at the Sheraton Studio City a couple years ago, and everything about it was great, so don't judge the whole chain by one bad hotel. Hopefully, Herbie can shed some more light on the subject for you. Hope this helps.:) :)

Many thanks. Of course you are right about not judging all Sheraton Hotels by the one with the 'bad report'. As I said in my earlier post to Mickey, we stayed 5 days in the Sheraton World Resort in 1993, and we so enjoyed our stay there, hence us choosing to go back there. Guess the word Sheraton before the Safari made me sit up and take a deep breath !!LOL
We are so looking forward to returning to returning to our 'favorite' holiday destination..........only 13 days to go !!!
We were last there in March 2000, are there any new rides at the parks that we should be seeking out ?
Cheers,
Moofy:p

Sheraton World

Out of all the Sheratons in Orlando, I would definetely recommend the Sheraton World before any of the others. If you are planning to do other things other than Disney, such as Sea World of even Universal, this is the place to stay. It is probably one of the best situated hotels in all of Orlando. It's basically across the street from Sea World and halfway between Disney and Universal. It's also located right where Interstate 4 and the beeline expressway merge and it makes it very easy to get anywhere quickly in the Orlando area (airport, downtown, disney, etc.)
I stayed at the hotel in december of '98 and they were going through extensive renovations at that time. But since then every room has been completed and a brand new 16 floor tower was built as well. Also, eventhough it's right next to the freeway it's relatively quiet.
If you're planning on only doing Disney, the Sheraton Safari would be a better choice simply because it is so much closer. However, the World is a much better hotel.
Have Fun!

Herbie thank you very much for your reply.
We chose the Sheraton World because we love visiting the Disney Parks, Universal, Sea World, but we also like to visit the Shopping Malls, Mecardo Villiage and the Flying Tigers Museum amongest other places. So as you say, we will be well placed for all these places.
I know it means a bit of travelling to and from the Disney Parks each day, but had we do enjoy all International Drive has to offer.
Thanks again for your input.
Cheers
Moofy
