Offsite - Holiday Inn Main Gate East

Has anyone ever stayed at the Holiday Inn Main Gate East?

We were planning a day trip to EPCOT on August 15th for my DD's 7th birthday. I started thinking that maybe we should stay over night and do another park on the 16th. We have passes so there would be not an expense for admission. Hotel expense was the issue. I looked on the web and found that this Holiday Inn offered a room for $79.95 a night with a small kids suite for up to 3 children. The kicker is that children under 12 eat free and they have a special for up to 2 adults for a free breakfast. Since we really only need a bed and breakfast this looks good to me.
And it is located only 3 miles from WDW.

Sounds like a plan gcbdad! I haven't been inside this hotel, but I can tell you that the area is very convenient to WDW. On our last trip, we stayed in this area and found it worked great for us. We passed by this hotel daily...its the first one on that strip of hotels and is right next to the ramp that leads to WDW. Let us know what you thought when you return! :)

I have not heard good things about this Holiday Inn. Here is a review that says things about the rooms similiar to what I have heard in the past.

Have you tried valuetrips.com? I have found some good deals on hotels in FL there. One of the ones I can recommend is Country Inn & Suites, but it might not accomadate 5 persons. But this one will.

Oh no!!! I just booked this hotel for our first night in Orlando I booked the deal that was $45.00 but it's non-refundable. Were thinking about coming in an extra day early and to do Universal and I was going to book it for another night. Now I'm more than a little concernsed I'd gladly lose the 45.00 if its a dump. I looked before I booked on tripadvisor and they got an pretty good reviews at

I would love to hear if anyone has stayed here.

I appreciate your feedback on this. I went to valuetrips.com and this hotel is one of the ones they offer. I also read the review you posted from Jan 2003 and although not perfect they say that it is very clean. If you look at the reviews on the link provided by preidl24, they are from June 2003 and are positive.
If we were going for several days then I would probably stay at a resort of some kind. But cost is an issue and we are only looking for a bed for over night. We have our own car so the buses would not be a problem. And they offer free breakfast for all 5 of us.

If anyone has actually stayed at this hotel and has an opinion I would appreciate hearing from you.

I think it sounds nice, we have a friend who has stayed there a few months ago, and said while it is no WDW hotel, it was nice and it was very clean.

HTH :)

GCBDAD, I think you will be fine there. It's only for one night, and if you heard good things about it, go for it!!! It's reasonably priced, fairly close to the World and your kids EAT FREE! What's there not to like??? GO FOR IT! ;)

Most Holiday Inns are nice. If you're not super picky, I'm sure it will be fine! You can't beat the free breakfast, either! Don't get too concerned with other peoples' reviews...sometimes it's just one bad experience. :)
