Universal Studios

Did anyone hear that Univeral is up for sale? Heard it on the news this morning.

If Michael Eisner ever wanted an opportunity, it is being handed to him on a silver platter.

Universal has been up for sale for a while now. Disney dropped out of the running some time ago.

I love it. You know everything, don't you? :D Where do you get all this information??

BTW...I hope this doesn't sound sarcastic. I'm being serious!

I hate to be negative and I hardly ever am, but, unless Disney bought Universal and implemented some MAGIC, I will never go to Universal Orlando again.

Just my opinion.........

I honestly hope that Disney does NOT buy Universal. Then there would be a monopoly of Disney and the prices for everything would go through the roof.

We heard that when MGM's contract with Disney runs out they are looking into purchasing Universal.

Vivendi Universal, the French conglomerate that owns all the Universal entertainment assets, is now trying to choose between two potential buyers: General Electric Co.'s NBC and a group headed by Vivendi Vice Chairman Edgar Bronfman Jr. All the other suitors, including Viacom Inc., Liberty Media Corp., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Comcast Corp., dropped by the wayside one by one, balking at Vivendi's $14 billion asking price.

If NBC were to acquire all the Universal assets, it is thought they would attempt to resell the theme parks division because their main interests lie in acquiring Universal's movie rights.

dznygrl, you're funny. :) I am on the Internet most of the day and night. And lucky for my job that I am able to do so. I am always scouring different sites for Disney and Orlando news for my job and my site and others. :)

I would like to thank our DC members who live in Orlando for keeping us up to date on such interesting things. ParkHopper and jmouse you are two of the best. I hope things don't change at Universal because I think it is a beautiful place. Not Disney, but it does have some great attractions, like BTF and MIB. I also love Twister and will miss Kong. Universal is part of what makes Orlando THE best vacation destination.
