Woman Has Heart Attack On IOA Coaster

A 34-year-old woman who had an apparent heart attack and passed out Tuesday near the end of riding Island's of Adventure's Incredible Hulk roller coaster is in critical condition, according to the Orlando newspaper. Read the full story.

Any updates? I will be riding this next week! Unless I chicken out. I am a good bit older than the 34 year old woman! I hate to think I am too old for a ride!:(
And she has the same first name as me!

The woman's family has requested that the hospital not give out any further information about her condition. She was listed as critical in the last report.

The roller coaster was shut down for a day as a precaution while safety crews checked it. No defects were found, and the ride reopened Thursday.

This is a very unfortunate incident and my thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.

However, as the good doctor said "this would have happened" even if she was not riding the coaster. Being a registered nurse, with years of experience in cardiovascular care, I believe that the ride will not cause a heart attack but a person's underlying, be it known or not, heart condition will lead to an event. So, get a check up and then, as this event points out, enjoy every day you have because you never know......

I have to agree with goofyguy's post. The recent death of John Ritter is a case in example. How sad for her and her whole family!
