We are thinking about staying a couple of nights at the Hard rock hotel , Is it as nice as it looks??

How close is it to the parks and how close are the two parks to one another?

I know this is a Disney Board... but we do go look at other properities on vacation! All habits are hard to break (was in the hospitality industry over 15 years)!LOLOLOL !!

We toured the Hard Rock, and made reservations for our next trip for a couple days.
Beautiful hotel. It's in Universal area, dh drives, so it's probably about 15 minutes (but don't quote me).
Our kids are 15 and almost 11. The swimming pool is the giant shape of a guitar and clean and outstanding hotels.
I believe it is a Lowe's Property, so that speaks for itself!

Very large hotel, beautiful manicured grounds, there are some discounts out there (scarce) but you can belong to the Lowe's.com (they have many properties) and join their email list, and time to time they have some great discounts. Other sources as well, AAA, and there's another website (*oops) that posts universal properites discounts as well (not sure If I should of wrote that one....)
The lobby is marble and beautiful, and spacious. Lots of wrought iron. We did not ask to see any bedrooms, but we were impressed enough with the property, maintence, cleanliness,and the resteraunt areas, pool, bar areas that we did make a reservation.
Well worth the money.
They have cases of props from Elivis, Madonna, Jimi Hendrix--
trying to remember who else...
If you get the chance, tour it, you will not be disapointed.
The other Lowe's property's are also very nice!

If it is anything like the Portofino at Universal it will be awesome. I hate to say it but it is better than any of the disney hotels I have seen but Universal itself is not somewhere I care to go to again.

Thanks for the input we are very excited to stay there!! If I want to go to Disney again, I have to let DH go to Universal this time!! Sacrafices, huh? I think this hotel will help the pain!!;)
