Never used WDW transportation, but very much want to.
We will be in WDW in February and i would like for my kids to ride the monarail (sp) and the boat. But we have never used Disney transportation and i have no idea where to get on the monarail or boat at and which things take me where.
Is there a website that tells you this. Thank you for all of the advice. ![]()

You can get the monorail at the TTC(ticket transportation center) , from the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, from Magic Kingdom, or Epcot!!
There are boats from about the same places!!!! Maybe Y&B club too!!! Have you used the buses???

Re: Never used WDW transportation, but very much want to.
Sorry I forgot to say the Monorail loops from Epcot to TTC and the other monorail loops from the Resorts I mentioned to Magic Kingdom!!!
The boats go from the Resorts to the MK!! And from the Contemporary to Fort Wilderness!!! I am not sure where else!!!

No we have not used any transportation. We will have our own car and will stay on site though. I want the total disney experience the next time we go.
Are there only certain time you can ride the monorails & boat & buses. Sorry for all the questions.

Re: Never used WDW transportation, but very much want to.
You can ride all Disney Transportation before, during and after operating hours at the parks. They usually start before the parks open to get you there by opening and they stay running about 2 hours after the parks so that everyone can get out. The easiest thing to do is find out what hotel you are staying at snd then the transportation is easy. You will not need your car once you park it the first day, unless you go off property for something. At you hotel, there will either be monorail, bus or boat transportation. Usually the deluxe (except the AKL) has boat or monorail to the MK. It will also have buses to get you everywhere else you want to go. if you are at a moderate or a value resort there is bus transportation running about every 20 minutes to whereever you want to go. The buses are labeled on the front with their destination. it is very easy and doesn't require too much thought!!! It is much easier than driving around!!!

One of the best ways to get the *full* monorail experience is to take a bus to MK and spend the day there and then take the monorail to the TTC, then switch to the Epcot monorail (about a 15 minute ride) so that you can enjoy the World Showcase and IllumiNations. As far as the boat, if you're staying onsite, there's no real need for it, unless you're planning on parking at the TTC because you want additional flexibility (i.e. not waiting for buses, travelling off site, etc.) Give us more details about your trip and we'll be MORE than happy to offer advice. ![]()

The Epcot area resorts only offer boat transport to Epcot and MGM Studios. They do offer buses to all other points Disney, though.

Re: Never used WDW transportation, but very much want to.
We are going in February 2005 and will be staying at CBR. This will be our 7th trip to WDW and we have never used disney transportation. Mainly because I don't know anything about it and we have never stayed on site before. Any help or suggestions would be wonderful.
I know we are going to MK for sure and MGM studios. But other than that I am not sure. I want to go to Epcot this next time we have never been.

Re: Never used WDW transportation, but very much want to.
We always stay on-site & never rent a car so we ALWAYS use Disney transportation. From CBR, if I'm not mistaken, you will have to start out by taking a bus anywhere you want to go...if you have any questions just ask at your front desk. They'll know where to get it, etc. The busses & waiting areas are always labeled well so you'll know where to go to get back as well.
I love MerlinMatt's idea about taking the monorail from MK to EPCOT. We always stay at BWV so even if our plan for the day is MK we tend to walk through EPCOT (stopping for breakfast at our favorite place in EPCOT on the way!) to the monorail, take it to the TTC, & then take the monorail to MK. Yeah, it might take a little longer, but it's much more Disney to us!

At your hotel, they will give you a transportation guide and it's quite easy to follow. Unfortunately, they don't tell you a lot of easier things.
For example if you have a car, don't drive to the parks - they charge for parking ! If you're going to Epcot or MGM, Drive to the Boardwalk or the Beach & Yacht Club , park in their free lot Don't drive up to the door - then they charge you for valet) , walk thru the hotel and take the boat to either Epcot or MGM or they have walking paths to both parks that take just a few minutes. If you are going to the Magic Kingdom, drive to Wilderness Lodge and park in there free lot. You can take their boat to MK or to the Contemporary or Grand Floridian and get on the Monorail. If you are not driving, take the bus from your hotel to downtown Disney then at the bus staion, you can get another bus to anywhere! Take the the bus to the Contemporary, Polinesian or Grand Floridian then you can get on a boat or the monorail to MK. These are both ways to avoid the very heavy crowds. Most people take the standard means and the means crowds. It also depends on what time of year you are going. ENJOY!! ![]() |

Actualy, If you stay onsite you can park for free at the parks. Just leave your resort parking silp on your dashboard and the CMs at the booth will let you park . no charge.

Re: Never used WDW transportation, but very much want to.
WDW transportation is one of the greatest features of the resort. Here are a couple of links to Web pages that explain the transportation system. This is the link to Mouse Planet's transportation guide and here's the link to INTERCOT's transportation guide. Here's a link to a WDW resort map that will give you an idea of where things are in relation to each other. Just use the navigation tools on the map to blow it up to 200 per cent or so and you'll be able to read the print.

Re: Never used WDW transportation, but very much want to.
We had been to disney so many times and never used the bus transportation. About 2 years ago my brother and sisterinlaw convinced us that we had to try it. We did, and now we only take the bus from the hotel to the parks. It is the best! We park our car at the hotel parking lot and do not see it until we get in it to go home. The disney bus has become part of the disney experience. It also is great having door-to-door service...not having to wait for the tram to bring you to the parking lot or to the park entrance. Although we sometimes miss the comedy of some of those tram drivers.
