Cancelling a flight ??
Just wondering if anyone here has any expierence cancelling a flight.
We may have to cancel our Delta/Song flight. Are we able to get a refund ? Or just credit for a future flight ? Thanks in advance!!

Re: Cancelling a flight ??
The airline will give you credit to use against the purchase of a future airline ticket. No refunds. We booked flights way back in November '03 for travel in November '04. However, we had one cancellation and one addition and just wanted to transfer the ticket from one person to the other. They wouldn't allow it for security reasons. So, the person not going now has a credit and we had to purchase a new ticket for the new person going (of course, now the ticket was 3 times the amount it was last year). You can always try with the airlines though. Sometimes you can get someone on the phone who wants to be nice.

I am not completely certain on their policy with Delta. Most airlines will allow you to cancel the reservation, and then when you rebook the reservation they will charge you their change fee which usually runs around $75-100 dollars.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I had to post about this. I went and did some quick research, and Delta/Song has the best policy I have ever seen on this. You do NOT need to even call and cancel your reservation. You are given a credit with the airline, so save your ticketing numbers. Your credit is good as long as you complete your travel (on a domestic flight) within a year of the original date. The price with a Delta Flight is $50 dollars, or with a Song flight it is only $25 dollars!!!!!!! That is awesome compared to US Airways $100 dollars.

Re: Cancelling a flight ??
I think it may depend also on why you are cancelling. I know that when we were traveling around the hurricane, Southwest let us change our flight penalty free, eventhough our tickets were sold as nonrefundable.

Re: Cancelling a flight ??
Southwest is free to change, just the difference in fare if the flight your are changing to is higher.
Delta is 25.00 Jetblue is 25.00 some american flights are 25.00 if they are in market with jetblue. most of the old carriers like usairways and united are still 100.00. the great thing about southwest and jetblue is you can use them for anyone you want in the future it does not have to be the same person ticketed.
