Transportation Vent (kind of)

I want tell a little story to better explain just how good someone like Quicksilver is (and no I am not a Quicksilver shareholder). We are flying out in April and it cost us about $675 for 5 rt tickets which I think is a good deal.

Quicksilver is picking us up in Orlando, taking us to the grocery store, droping us off at PC, picking us up at the BWV and taking us back to the airport for probably $140 including tip. Again reasonable in my opinion and given the excellent service, a great value.

Yesterday, I set up our car service (Airbrook, a good company) to take us to La Guardia in NYC for our flight out. It is $322 including tip plus $3 to $9 for parking. A mean, come on... what a rip! And the customer service stunk. The woman couldn't wait to get me off the phone. When I asked for a carseat - nope, bring your own. It was your typical NYC BS.

So next time you use Quicksilver or another fine car service, be a little extra nice. They deserve it.

What is it cheaper to go out of LaGuardia than Newark? We're flying out of Philly and using a service called King Limo. We're about an 45 minutes to an hour from the airport and paying $86.00, including tip. Your not kidding "rip off". Your only about an hour from the city.

Hi Hiner,

Yes, it is a lot cheaper out of La Guardia ($135 vs. $260). It is just the nature of the beast in NYC, I think!!

That's an excellent price. Are they local to you or do they service all of NJ? I may need their services. I can't find a limo company or towncar company for under $120 right now and I am only 20minutes from the airport.

Baby Brother with a new drivers license is a very cheap alternative

Sorry, missed this Dana. Someone at work recommended King Limo. Their number is 800-245-5460. Can't hurt to try, right?! They were at our house promptly at 4:15am and it was smooth sailing to the airport. On our return home, the driver was waiting for us. He even waited an hour for us to get our luggage, problem with US Air of course. They are very curtious and you don't have to share your ride with strangers, although it is sometimes fun to share.

WOW skwak, that is insane!

I guess it encourages us to realize just how beautiful competition in tourist areas is! Without the amount of competition in Orlando and high-tourist areas like that, I bet rates would be just as insane to get you to/from your resort & the airport. UGH, that would be a blow to the pocketbook on every trip.

I'm sorry you have to pay so much...and for a company with crappy service, too!

Thanks, dznygrl. I agree but the alternatives really don't work (long-term parking, walking, etc.). I like EGirls idea but alas, since none of my friends go away nearly as often as we do, it wouldn't be fair for us!

Oh well, that's life. We are there in 12 days so I really can't be too upset.

It makes it hard to stay too upset about anything. In fact, I just had two very important people call out sick today and I can't even work up a sweat about it. Good for me, bad for my company!
