National Car rental

We are DC members, and I just signed up for the Emerald Club membership.

We are flying into Orlando just before Thanksgiving and need to get down to my MIL's for five days before heading to Disney. It's looking like National will be the cheapest/easiest way to go?? We can pick up at the airport and drop off at Disney?? What is the best location to drop off at - the WDW Dolphin or the WDW Car Care center? We were thinking of heading to the Grand Floridian for lunch, then back to the hotel to unpack & get ready for MVMCP.

Would love some advice!! :D

Marion, I know that Alamo was just named the new official car rental company of Walt Disney World, so I don't know how much longer National will be around WDW. I would give them a call. We have rented and dropped off in a different place several times, never had a problem.

Ooooo... wicked good point. I will call...

I looked at Alamo, and the only thing I'm bummed about is it seems to take a long time to get the car? Is their rental booth not at the Orlando airport?

OK, revisiting this since I am so incredibly frustrated... Alamo told me tonight they will be onsite as of December 1, while National is telling me they will be onsite until the end of the year. Both have told me they will accept dropoffs at the Car Care Center.

Has anyone hear of any of this? I know the changing of the guards is going on, but the last thing I want to do is arrive in Orlando late at night, hoping for a car that doesn't exist, to be dropped off at a location that was never there in the first place...

National and Alamo are owned by the same parent company - there is probably a good chance that they will share space for a while at the Car Care Center until the switch is made. I believe National will still be the one that is onsite at the airport - I don't know if this makes a difference to you - I know it does to me!
