They Changed My Flight

I was a little shocked as I looked at my Disney Reservation on line. We have had these reservations since Dec. 2004. We booked our return trip, everything in one easy package including our air flight. We did it for the convenience of one bill, everything being done at once. The flights leaving from our hometown were almost the same price booking through Disney as booking it direct from the airline, so we did it all together.

It was DELTA that changed our flight but it was Disney that never notified us nor did Delta or Disney offer us the chance to pick our flight. They just stuck us on one and I just happened to find it! Now we will be leaving eariler in the day than we wanted to. We had got a flight that got us home at 10:30p.m. so we had that last almost whole day at Disney. Now we have to leave eariler that we wanted. It will be a sad day anyway, now it is worse.

We are still going, still excited, but a little upset with how it was handled, or not handled. When I called Disney it took two phone calls (on hold so long the first time we were disconnected, and not from me) THREE CM's and finally Guest Services to get a straight answer. One CM was very rude and would not even listen to me. She simply told me that they repeat everything back to us and WE must have ok'd it. NOT! I had to go back through all of my papers and figured out that they changed it somewhere between July 8th and the 15th, the times we had made payments. I found it on the 24th. Plenty of time to contact us.

I was just dissapointed and had to vent.

Oh my, that is disappointing....I wouldn't stop there, tough....I would call again start over by asking for a manager and explain it all again. Never hurts to try....

Re: They Changed My Flight

My wife and I had this happen with ATA from Chicago for our Honeymoon. We booked the flight through Expedia but my wife called ATA Directly and pitched a fit saying the wedding is stressful enough and they were just making matters worse.

They screwed that up and my wife managed 2-$100 off vouchers for future flights.

It gets better my wife booked us a trip to vegas where we had scheduling issues with our voucher tickets. My wife worked her magic and called to complain. 6 Months later we were on our way to LA with 2 Free RT tickets in the Continental US.

Hope you can have the same luck!

Re: They Changed My Flight

Delta is known for changing flights. On my last trip to DLR, on which I bought one ticket and used one of my frequent flier free tickets, my dad (who was traveling with me) got a phone call informing him that his flight time had changed about 3 weeks prior to our trip. I never heard anything. About a week before the trip, I got an email notifying me of the change. As I studied the changes, I noticied that while we were on the same flight from DFW to Salt Lake City, we were on different flights from SLC to Orange County! My dad was scheduled on a flight about 2 hours after mine. Luckily the flights weren't full so I was able to get both of us on the earlier flight.

Re: They Changed My Flight

Any chance you can call the airline directly?
If so they are usually pretty good with their customer service.
Good Luck!

She's the best. We met working in retail years ago so we are both sticklers for good customer service. You simply don't just change someones flight no notice. Much like you thank god we double checked everything 1 month out.

We were looking for the option to cancel and switch to an airline whose schedule better suited us and though we had every right they threw 2-$100 vouchers our way.

When they did the exact same thing again we looked to cancel again and my wife told them this exact thing happened before. To keep us on their flight they gave us free tickets.

We didn't ask or demand compensation. We tried to leave the airline entirely they did what it took to keep us. It worked and we still look to fly ATA even though since banckruptcy they go nowhere worth a dang from Chicago.

Re: They Changed My Flight

That is annoying. I can understand your frustration. You are going to lose a whole day of WDW. Is it possible for you to change the flight now and maybe pay a small fee? I have been considering that myself. The only return flight I could book when US airways was having their airefare was for 9:30am. That stinks. I am losing an entire day that I would love to go to the parks and do our favorites like we always do on departure day.

I am so sorry that it took so many phone calls and CMs to get a straight answer. It shoudln't have taken that much and it surely didn't require anyone to get rude on the phone.

Re: They Changed My Flight

Since Delta changed the flight on you,you should be able to change to a flight that meets your needs without paying any fee at all. I do this when an airline changes a flight on me and the new flight is something I can't work with.

You are correct...when airlines have schedule changes(happens all the time and not only on Delta)...you usually have the option to cancel the entire flight or ask for other options than the option given. One thing though..before you cancel with whatever airline your currently on, make sure there is space on a different airline.

This is also another good reason to book through a travel agent. If they book direclty with an airline, they are usually sent a message as soon as the airline makes a schedule change and then they can contact you. If the agent books through a tour company...Disney or others...they are usually notified pretty early on too and pass on this information to the client.

It seems odd that Disney didn't call you when they were notified of this schedule change....They are usually pretty good about this....

It is too bad that this happened...I hope that it won't ruin your whole trip. That would be a shame
This is the bad part of booking our flights out so early, it leaves the door wide open for schedule changes....

Re: They Changed My Flight

Well, I called today. I guess I needed Laneysdad's wife to call for me. First let me make this clear, I am disappointed that we have to leave earlier than we wanted and I do realize that flights change. I just wanted someone to say yes we should have notified you and if it happens again we will let you know, were sorry.

What I got was a good explaination from Delta They explained that flights change (ok) BUT on our reservation there is a note to contact Disney Travel not us, which they did. I was fine with that. She said that there is a good chance that the flight will change again before we leave, she was kind enough to note our reservation that if a later flight becomes available they will try to get us on it.

So I called Disney again. In the course of the conversation I got several stories:

CM: Flights change.
ME: I KNOW WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE NOTIFY ME?
CM: It is your responsability to check 24 hours before your flight to see what has changed.
ME: I UNDERSTAND, BUT COULDN'T SOMEONE NOTIFY ME IN CASE I NEEDED TO CHANGE MY FLIGHT OR AIRLINE?
CM: We don't call guests, it is computer generated.
ME: WHERE IS MINE?
CM: We just mailed something on the 25th.
ME: I KNOW - I ASKED FOR NEW VOUCHERS, BUT YOU HAVE CHANGED MY FLIGHT 4 TIMES, THE FIRST TIME IN MAY - WHERE ARE THOSE?
CM: We only notify when it is a change over 2 hours.
ME: MY FLIGHT WAS AT 7:30 NOW IT IS 3:30 THAT'S 4 HOURS.

I gave up. It wasn't worth it, I was just getting more and more irritated. Next time I will have to let Laneysdad's wife call

Re: They Changed My Flight

We always fly Frontier & since I book so far out they always change the times. I've learned to keep checking because no one ever notifies me. And if they switch us to something we don't want to or can't work with they've always been good about working with us. I think you'll find in the legalese that all airlines have that it says they reserve the option of changing things up on you.

Re: They Changed My Flight

Delta has changed alot of their flights including flights for Song Airlines. They are reducing the number of flights out of certain airports etc. (Less flights at LaGuardia in New York, but more flights at JFK) I know they had alot of layoffs lately and are probably understaffed to handle the original flights. We had our flights changed (no notification yet - not flying until Feb 2006 - I obessively check) and we were not happy with the return flight they moved us to so I called and took a later flight home. We even had the option of changing airports for our return if we wanted -----and no charge.
