Ok guys southwest is making it really hard with their crazy deals... I decided that we were going to take a shuttle from the airport to the hotel which costs 60.00 for myself and my husnad my son who is two is free... Well southwest has come up with a deal through dollar rental for 109.00 that is a rental car for the whole week... We would still be taking a shuttle from the hotel to the park. And I am not sure that we would need a car but I do not want to be kicking myself for not taking this deal.... We are staying for 7 days and have disney hopper passes for all of the days. The only thing that we are doing outside the park is the richard petty experince HUGHHHHH any insite from anyone???

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
Go with a town car service. There are so many in the area, and many will make a free 30 monite stop at a grocery store for you to stock up on drinks/snacks for your room. You will NOT need a car at WDW, and the Mears/Shuttle service is so inconvenient. You check in, you wait, they stop at 3 other hotels on the way. With a car service they are waiting for you only at baggage, help you with your bags, stop at a grocery store and take you directly to your hotel for less than $100 round trip.
If you are thinking about a shuttle though, have you thought about Magical Express. It's WDW's very own (new) shuttle service, but I think it is only free for a few months more (introductory special). I have never had occasion to use it, but others here have.

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
We like having a car because we go off site alot. Thats a pretty good deal for a car for the week, what size is it? But if your going to use a service the Magical Express is just fine and free. Maybe a call to see if its going to be free when you go, just one mans humble opinion.

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
I am getting ready to do the ME. We never get a car anymore, it ends up being more of a hassle than anything, since the bus takes us anywhere we want to go. I have heard that the towncar thing is a pretty good deal too, especially with the grocery stop.

Again, the down side is picking it up and droppig it off afterwards. I like the towncar service - quick easy, they know to where they are going .....

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
$109 with unlimited miles? Wow!
But if you're going to spend most of your time onsite, I'd pass. Just a service for Petty. That said, I drive from the other end of FL, so I always have a car. ![]()

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
It's never $109 though...Florida throws their taxes on it, insurance, etc. and before you know it, it's not nearly the deal that it looks like up front.

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
Boo you are exactly right when I really started looking into it, It is about 145.00 for the week. Still a deal but something that I am not sure that we are going to need... We are not going to land in Orlando until 10 pm so I am hoping that there are not any other Mears travelers with us, even if there what does it matter because the nest day when we wake up WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
Although WDW bus service is just fine count me out thank you. Our first two trips we used the buses and they were ok, but not all had the Disney rainbow above them. Not all the princesses and Toystory boys and even the adults were sprinkily pixie-dust. Not all were on time with a smile and a good amount of the boys and girls must have left thier manners at home. I admit to not being the most patient person but there is not always Disney music playing as you drive into one of the parks on thier buses. I also see no problems with picking up or dropping off a rental, we have never had to wait long at all before we were on our way. Everyone is different but I will drive myself thank you very much.

Re: Rental Car or Mears Shuttle??
Why would you choose to take a shuttle to the parks if you have your own rental car? Wouldn't you prefer to have the flexibility to come and go when you want to, rather than waiting for the shuttle?
We always get a rental car, whether we stay onsite or offsite. There's so much freedoom there. Plus, being offsite, you can eat at some very good, inexpensive places offsite rather than pay exhorbitant park food prices.
