Is it too early to get nervous about Tropical Florence in the Atlantic?? We leave next Tuesday. I know it maybe a little early, but has anyone heard anything about this storm??

Re: Tropical Florence

A severe storm, especially near a vacation, is definately enough to make anyone nervous. I haven't seen the latest on this storm yet, so I can't offer any opinion or adivce other than just keep watching it. Hopefully it doesn't effect your trip. Crossing fingers for you.

#6 is in the same spot as those storms that historically have never made landfall, but instead follow the gulf stream North.

Lots of showers, no bad stormies..

(Historically is my legal caveat to avoid any liability)

Re: Tropical Florence

There's more of a chance of this hitting me (according to our 11pm news and the NHC) and there's very very little chance of even that happening.

The fact is, the water is too cold for a big hurricane season. Just about every climatologist out there has said that we're at the end of a cycle of high activity for the next few years and they've all revised their predictions downwards. Contrary to all the "global warming" nonsense, we're getting less storms and the storms we do get, believe it or not, are less powerful.

Thank goodness for that. My trip next year falls in the middle hurricane season and I have to say that the thought, even that far in advance, made me a little nervous.

Re: Tropical Florence

I live in what we call the "cone of death"..lol...aka South Florida. We are being told that they wont really know what is going to happen until possible sunday or early next week.

We are suppose to go to WDW Sept 15th weekend. If it comes I would put money on it that it will be over that weekend. I was considering cancelling my Sept 17th night at POR and moving over to the Renaisance Resort across from Sea World since we may go to Sea World the 17th rather then a disney park but no sense in changing reservations around until we know what is going on with the storm.

Hurricane season is a pain in the neck...esp if that is your prime time to hit the parks. We went last year the weekend of Wilma. We got back to Ft Laud the day before we got hit.

Re: Tropical Florence

The 11 AM chart shows Florence curving out to sea well before it would see Florida. Currently, none of the islands will be effected either.
