Transportation from airport to resort - What should I expect?
Ok, after our arrangments had already been made with our Travel Agent, I found out about DisneyCentral and from reading all the posts, learned that it would have been better if I'd known about Tiffany and went that route for transportation to/from the airport.
My question - We should be arriving in Orlando about 11:00am and will be taking the Meers shuttle to/from the resort. What can I expect - i.e. Where is the shuttle service located in relationship to the baggage claim area? Will it be a long wait for the shuttle? About how long should it take to get to our resort (All Star Sports)? Thanks for any help you can give a real novice! We're taking our grandsons and we haven't been there since our kids were there ages, some 20+ years ago. |

I would ask your travel agent to credit you the transfers and book yourself through Tiffany, if they won't do it for you.
Otherwise, you will have to get your luggage at baggage claim on Level 2, head across to the Mears p/u area on Level 1, and wait for the next bus. From what I understand, that can take up to a half hour. It's another 30-45 minutes to the All Stars, but I'm not sure if they stop at any other resorts before reaching there. It's not that bad, but after a long day of traveling, I do have to say it's much nicer being met at baggage claim by a driver who will help you get your luggage and load it for you, and still be cheaper in the long run.

WELCOME TO DISNEY CENTRAL!
We usually arrive in Orlando around 9:45 AM when we go. In hte past we have used Mears Shuttles and the service is fine but it is a lenghty process. As Mickeymac said you have to wait for the suttle and that can be anywhere from 5 minutes to half an hour. The you have the trip to the resorts, sometimes you can be dropped first and sometimes you have another wait that can be nerve wraking! See if you can get credited back for the Mears shuttle and hire a private car. we are going to use Tiffany our next because it comes highly reccomended here and by people I know who have used them. Good luck!:)

I'm sorry I just had to voice my opinion about this one. We used Mears only once and I couldnt stand it. The wait that we had at the airport and then it seemed like our hotel was the last in line... We we so over packed in the van.It was horriable. The next time we went we had a rental car (thank god) This time Im going with what every on the DC says we are going with Tiffany...

I'm so glad you followed up. I get upset when travel agents either don't know enough, or don't go the extra mile to take a look at each individual situation and try to make recommendations based on your personal travel needs. Mears is fine for college students, or those who are used to bus shuffling, or want to take extra time at Orlando Airport for some reason. It's not fine for a magical journey with the grandkids.
OK, off the soapbox!

Good Choice, Don't forget to get the $5 off coupon from thier web site. Unless you have the new Transporter book then there a $8 one in that. Just make sure that it still attached to your book. You'll love the ride to your hotel and back, They are a great company.
