magical express and late departure

Hello, We are leaving in 18 days and I can't wait! This will be the first time using the magical express. We have a later flight home (7:30pm) and want to spend some extra time in the park on our departure day. Do you think we are better off taking a cab to the airport so that we can have extra time? When using the magical express I assume it would take longer because of all of the stops(or does each resort have thier own bus?). What time do you think we need to leave AKL in order to make our fight? Thanks Mindi

They run pick ups all day and night. You will be scheduled for 2-3 hours before your flight time. While that SEEMS like a really long time, security at MCO is unpredictable. I've walked right through and taken an hour to get through.

Re: magical express and late departure

Use ME.

We just did this a couple of weeks ago. We had a 3 o' clock flight that afternoon, so we chose the EMH park for that day (MGM for us)....got up real early, was at the park at rope drop, rode TT and RNRC 3 times each, then headed back to the hotel for a little relaxation before our ME bus picked us up at noon.

I'm assuming your ME bus will pick you up around 4 or 4:30pm. Should be plenty of time for you to get a nice 1/2 day in at the parks.

Welcome to MouseBuzz! I have to agree, use ME. You'll save the money and like rlcarmichael said, it seems like way early to be at MCO for your flight, but I like to get to the airport with plenty of time to spare. We checked in for our flights at the resort, left our bags with ME, they even held our carry-ons for us, and went on our merry way for the day.

Good luck! That would drive me nuts! Luckily, DH hates to fly, but leaves the planning to me, so we get there early...most of the time!

Use ME. I hate being late and would rather sit in an airport than worry about missing a flight.

"Living on the edge" can cause you to miss your flight, especially in MCO. Get stuck behind a convention group and you could be spending a lot more time waiting for the next flight they can get you on. Many of the flights out of MCO are full so don't risk it. There is a reason they pick you up from your hotel when they do!

Visit the TSA site. They are...well lets say pickey on what you can carry on. And wear shoes that you can get on and off easy. They will have to be scanned. Despite what one grandmother thought, you do not have to run your infants through the xray machine however.

Re: magical express and late departure

if it were me and I wanted to spend the day in the park I would book with a car service for a 5:30 pickup time.....get back to the resort by 5:00 to get your luggage from the bell services. You are going at a very slow time plus your flight is later at night....I always go for as much time as I can get.

Re: magical express and late departure

I noticed car services (quicksilver, etc.) pick up 2 1/2 hours before flight, so not saving much time.

the car services will pick up at the time you stipulate. I usually ask them to pick up about 1 3/4 hour before my flight.
