We always rent a car when we go to WDW, but we also use the WDW transportation on occasion. We've always rented from Alamo and have had no problems but you have to take a shuttle to Alamo at the Tampa airport. I want to save time and just go to a counter in the airport. I have gotten a pretty good rate of $480.87 for 11 days. So far that is the best I could find.

Here are my questions.....

Do you pay for the rental upon return or when you pick it up? The confirmation states that they put a hold on a credit card and remove it upon settling after the rental is finished.

Has anyone had any problems with Dollar Rental Cars?

Do they have a site on WDW property? Alamo has one, or atleast they did as of two years ago.

Should I cancel and wait until it gets closer to our trip and then book a car or keep this ressie?

First if you are using Dollar you may be able to save a lot of cash if you use a code from Mousesavers.com I think the code is Kiss2. We saved so much money with that code that no matter what the circumstances it was worth it. (We got a van for a week for $154).

We used Dollar two years ago with no problems. The line was really long at the airport but I've heard that if you sign up for their program you get through it much faster.

I'm not sure whether or not Dollar is onsite at WDW.

You are welcome. Someone here at mousebuzz gave it to me and I was thrilled. The wealth needs to be shared! Glad it worked for you too.

Don't forget to sign up for their Dollar Rewards program so you can have some of your paperwork done ahead of time and get special attention at the counter. I haven't tried that yet but one of the other sites (I think allears) said that it works well.

I just wanted to add that I too saved about $100 using that 'KISS2' code for Dollar. And, I also signed up for their membership program so I can avoid the lines. Last year, we used Budget (who had decent rates and cars) and had to wait nearly one hour on their line.

I used them last year as well, no problems at all. Not much of a wait though, maybe 15 minutes.

The Kiss2 code has been getting me good discounts for a few years now. It's a good one.

Dollar is indeed a reliable retailer. The only thing I will mention is, this past trip they gave me the insurance spiel. Bring your own insurance card with you so you can back it up if you must. This has never happened to me before, so I don't know if it's something new that all the rental companies are doing or not. But he made me sign something saying I was taking responsibility for any accidents. It was the first time I ever gave pause to think about it. It made it seem like I was taking on a risk by not buying their insurance. But as most of you know, your own insurance should cover you just fine.

I will reiterate the advice of signing up for the easy check in program they have. It will save you a step.

I love renting from Dollar. The last time I did have one complaint and I'm proably the only one in the world who would complain about this. They upgraded me from a intrepid to a 300M. I rented a fullsize car not one that I need a comercial drivers license for. I hated that 300m its to big. I would have rather been downgraded to a stratus. However thats my biggest complaint its nothing really to hold against them.

I did rent from them one time in New England reserved a intrepid and got a KIA, that will be the last time I rent from them up north, but down here I have never had a problem with them other then the upgrade as mentioned.

I was going to sign up as a member but didn't like the fact that they have my drivers license #, home address and birth date. To me it would put up a HUGE red flag saying "Identity Theft, here she comes". I know it sounds picky but that scares the bajeebees out of me!!!!

Any rental car company is going to get that info from you no matter what, well maybe not your birthdate, but its on your license anyway.

Yeah. Not only that, but they will end up entering that info into their system when you check in anyway.

I went over to the Dollar site and tried setting up a dummy transaction just to see what a rental would cost and i didn't get a box for the "Kiss2" code. Is there a spot i should look for it?

I just punched in my arrival and departure dates and the type of car we wanted and it came up with a price. Never let me enter a code. Do i have to go through the entire process of renting the car to get to that point?

I reserved a car yesterday thru dollar using this code and I had to go into Specials before I could enter the code. Hope that helps!
