Offsite hotel transportation tips

I have never been to WDW and I am currently slated to stay at a hotel right near the Orange County Convention Center.

Does anyone have any transportation tips for someone staying offsite? What do you recommend??

I am sort of curious about what I can expect when the parks close and I still want a ride back to my dive... It seems like the hotel doesn't have a shuttle, which is lame. I also don't have much say in the hotel, since it is the one where several coworkers are going to as well...

THANKS!

Re: Offsite hotel transportation tips

I suggest getting a rental car so you don't have to rely on other transportation. This is going to be your best bet and easiest to deal with. Driving around WDW is fairly easy and it's not hard to find anything. You can park at the park you are going to end your day at and just hop around WDW.. you can go to DTD at night too so you aren't limited to hanging around your lame hotel..lol

I'm going to have to agree with dana, renting your own car seems to be the easiest if your off site hotel doens't have a shuttle.

Re: Offsite hotel transportation tips

I am afraid you all may be right!

Maybe I could wear a long black overcoat and hitch a ride back to the hotel?

Re: Offsite hotel transportation tips

I agree...If the hotel has no shuttle I suggest renting a car. I can't imagine how else you'd get there other than a taxi...but I personally wouldn't want to rely on someone else.
Once you get to the property just park your car at one park where ever you plan to end your day. Say you're starting your day at MK and ending it at Epcot. It will be MUCH easier to get from Epcot to MK in the morning than it will be at park closing. That being said...I have never driven to the parks so I may not really even know what I am talking about.

I second (or third) the motion- rent a car. After a beautiful stay at WL last week, I spent the last night at a convention hotel (mandatory for convention attendees). Transportation was not convenient at all.

Re: Offsite hotel transportation tips

My husband and I use our off property timeshare when we go to Disney. And we always rent a car to get around. Also, just so you know, once you pay to park in one of the Disney lots, you don't have to pay to park in another one the rest of the day. You can use the same pass for all the Disney lots. So, basically, if you buy a parkhopper pass, and you want to go to Animal Kingdom during the day and Magic Kingdom at night to see the parade, you don't have to pay to park again. The parking pass is good for all day at all the parks! =)

Yeah, I think the few extra minutes it may take you to get somewhere is worth saving $10
