DO you want to fly on JetBlue?

Here is my dilema... We purchased our tickets to fly on JetBlue last week. We thought that the flights were going to go really high and so I jumped on a great fare. For 5 tickets I paid $886. We were going to have to fly out of New York and we live in CT but the rate was great, so now I go on Southwest and I find a fare out of the airport close to us for $786, so long story short... Does anyone want to fly on Jetblue and are you interested in purchasing the credit I will recieve? Jetblue said that I cannot cancel our flight, but I can take the credit and sell it to anyone, and it is good for any flight that JetBlue flies. Any takers?

Re: DO you want to fly on JetBlue?

wow that stinks! I just saw that the fares for my cruise air were so much cheaper today- but I also saw that the two flights we need are booked so we are at least covered there!

I try not to fly out of NY as it overwhelms me- I will listen around here for anyone.

I couldn't decide when to buy our fares for our Chriatmas trip, I thought about it for days then finally decided to just get it over with so we could have the flights we wanted. We are pretty locked in on the days we can go so in order to get the flights we needed I decided not to play the waiting game. I MIGHT have saved a couple hundred dollars if I had waited but our flights may have been sold out by then.

Good luck Nokey. I hate when they change those airfares after you purchase yours.

If it makes you feel better, I would fly jetblue over Southwest any day..

Free t.v. screens on the back of each seat really makes the time go by faster.

I believe the seats are more comfortable, too..

It is my humble (and legal) opinion that Southwest is a bus with wings.

Take it for what it is worth..

Now, after reading your headline and responding, I've now read your actual request..

Let me know if you can't afford to fly JetBlue, and you can't find anyone to buy the tickets..

Jetblue flies from Long Beach to Dulles, and I will be using that route with my heir apparent this May..

Is there an expiration date? Must we use all the credit on one trip only?

Let me know..

I have to go out for a bit, but when I return I will find out the info for you and I will respond. It's not about the affordability as much as it is about the fact that with Jet Blue I have to travel into NY from CT (Bradley is so much easier) and then I have to park in NY ($150) and we have 2 children, flying at night (9 pm arriving MCO 1150 pm), etc... We were willing to do it for the affordability of teh flight because fares were around $300 , but now that I see I can book airfare for teh same in CT, I would work out more efficiently for us! I will get back to you!

Ok, here is what I found out...

If I cancel, I take a $25 hit on each persons ticket, (we are ok with that!) The total amount that I paid $886.50 minus the fees $125 leaves me with a Credit of $761.50. I can transfer that credit to anyone I wish. They issue a credit to the reservation # I recieved and then whomever calls to use the credit just needs to provide the credit reservation # and the name that was originally issued the credit, but per Tiffany at Jetblue anyone can use the credit if they have the credit reservation #.

The credit must be utilized within one year, however say we cancel today and are issued the credit, March 13, 2008, you decide to book a flight for December 2008, that would be fine. If you decide that you would like to book a flight and it only costs you $200, then you would continue to maintain a credit balance and would be able to use the remianing credit again until you use up the balance or until the credit year expires, whichever comes first!

Does all of that make sense? Let me know if you are interested.

Re: DO you want to fly on JetBlue?

Personally, I'd fly JetBlue over Southwest, even if I had to pay more. JetBlue's crew is really nice and you get to watch TV on the flight. Southwest is like a Greyhound bus of the skies.

Re: DO you want to fly on JetBlue?

I have never had a problem flying Southwest, their crew has always been kind and welcoming. The biggest issue is not the cost, it is convience.

We knew it would be very inconvienent (driving 2 hrs. into NY, flying out at 9 pm, arriving in Orlando 1150pm) ariving at the hotel for 1 am, and all of this with 2 toddlers who normally go to bed like clockwork by 7:30 pm! However, $177 for the inconveinence vs. $300, really no contest, that is almost $150 per ticket to spend in the World! Now, Southwest comes in with a fare of $69each way right out of Hartford, CT at 7:40pm, arriving at 1100 pm! that is big! It also means no commute into New York!

So, as you can tell, my struggle is not so much the cost, but the dred of what that night holds!

Re: DO you want to fly on JetBlue?

Like I said, we actually enjoy Southwest, and it seems the nightmare for us would be the jetblue flight due to the travel with toddlers at that time of night, (I am sure that JetBlue provides a great travel with the tv's and all, but it really isn't a consideration for us) so if anyone is interested I would love it if you could help us out!
