flying with kids

Is it true that no matter what type of ticket you have with SWA you can board first if you have children?

Re: flying with kids

The children have to be a certain age. Mine were 6 and 9 and we didn't qualify-I think it's 3 and under or something like that but I'm sure someone else will know or you can call SWA. Just do the online check-in 24 hrs. ahead and you should get A or B and you'll be fine.

Re: flying with kids

If traveling with children, they have to be under age 5 to pre-board with SWA. At that point, it will not matter if you have a A B or C boarding code.

Could very well be. Go out to the web site Southwest Airlines and get all of the information. You probably can pre-board.

Your nephew should qualify. When we flew home from Orlando there was a family with 4 kids preboarding before us. The youngest child looked to be about 6 or 7. We struck up a conversation and it turned out their 10yo is autistic, so they could preboard.

The mom told me she and her DH used to split up the kids--she'd take 3 of them and preboard grabbing seats for her Dh and son with autisim. Then, her DH and son would board last because it ws really hard for him to wait for the plane to fill up, and he didn't like all the people passing by him. Now that he's used to flying she can preboard him. She did tell me that he has to have a window seat near the front so he can be one of the first off the plane. She also said she has it noted in his reservation record.

Re: flying with kids

I've not flown SWA in over 10 years, but from what I can gather, are there not seating assignments? Is that why you would want to pre-board? When we fly JetBlue we actually opt to not pre-board so there is less time sitting on the plane waiting to get started. It's easier to let my DD hang out and run around the terminal until the last minute.
