Ok I bought our airfare last night online. that was easier then I thought it would be I never did buy airfare online before.

Anyhow we leave 12/18-26th and our flight leaves at 8am and we arrive at 11:30ish. then coming home we leave Orlando at noonish and arrive at around 2:30ish.

Now I have heard that they can change your travel times somewhat. I have nonstop flights there and back. please tell me they can not change that in my flight and make me have layovers ???

How much can my flight times really change? I wanted to get there early to try and get to MVMP party, but if they are going to maybe mess with my flight times and I don't get there in time that would really make me made lossing that money on those tickets. I wonder if I should plan on going to the party a few days after we arrive instead.

I think it stinks they can do that, we all plan our times out inadvance based on our kids, what we have going on in our destination , our sanity. I know that delays happen but to just decided well lets change this flight today because we can seems rather rude.

I cant give you specifics but there was a recent thread about flight departure and arrival changes. We have not had any changes personally.

I have had many changes where we had direct flights and they added layovers! Needless to say, that was NOT acceptable to me. I called the manager as soon as I saw the flights change. Once I had a decent fare on a different airline on hold, I would cancel the tickets with the layover. 5 out of 5 times the airline let me change or cancel with NO penalty.

A non-stop flight is not the same as a direct flight.

A non-stop flight means just that, you don't stop (land) anywhere between your departure city and your destination city.

A direct flight means your plane will land somewhere betweend you departure city and your destination city. But you won't have to change planes.

In general I would say a non-stop booking changing to something else is fairly rare (unless you booked months and months in advance)

A direct flight changing into something where you have to change planes is more likely, but is not a given.

Something else you may see is that they may change your departure or arrival times. Usually this is just a few minutes in either direction, nothing to be too concerned about, but keep an eye on it especially if you have a connecting flight type situation (which you don't)

When I said DIRECT flight in my post above, I meant the plane went directly from JFK to NAS with NO stopping...my NON STOP flights changed on numerous occasions...

Thank you for clearing up the terminology! Direct and non-stop can get a little confusing sometimes.

I never knew there was difference between direct and non stop. I thought they were interchangeable.

Does the airlines contact you if anything changes with your flight. I somehow remember people being so surprised the day of their flight. I don't fly too much, so really don't know where to start looking to assure we are all set with what we booked.

Sometimes, Yes. Sometimes, NO.

Once when I was going to the Bahamas, they changed the flight COMPLETELY. I mean, they changed the actual PLANE, the TIMES, the fact that it was non stop to a 3 hour layover...and they were trying to put me in a 40 passenger plane...I was NOT having that! LOL...

i did not know the Direct flight and non stop were different either thanks for that bit of info.

I went to see if the flight I booked had gone up , I could not find our return flight listed so I suppose its booked up now. I had a 12noon departure and now the only thing I see listed is the 6pm departure.
I am surprised it filled up in 2 days but it happens everyday i guess.
