Any recourse for your flight getting totally butchered?

This might seem like an odd post, but i'm curious about something?

Sandy and i booked our tickets through Cheaptickets.com and we got some nice prices. They are actually Delta with the cute name. I'm not a big Delta fan as i've always done my business with SWA.
Anyway, we originally were booked for a Sept 14 Albany to Orlando with a short stop in Boston. Basically, it was flight time + a 40 minute layover in Boston. Well......... now things have changed a bit. Now the flight is Albany to Atlanta with a 3 hour layover! So now the total trip time is creeping over 7 hours.

I have no problem with a short stay in any airport. On vacation, i'm extremely tolerant. But i have to be honest. Being bumped from a 40 minute to a 3 hour and 7 minute Atlanta layover stinks. As a Boston Red Sox fan, i would have been in my glory to be trapped in Boston for 3 hours, but Atlanta, not so much.

Joking aside, are we basically stuck? It's still early, so is there a chance they could still tighten up the flight times and make it a little less of a layover? Would growling to Delta do anything?

I guess i'm a little bummed. I went from a nice and tight 4hr and 20 minute flight to one over 7 hours.. (and that extra time is being spent in a terminal where a giant Subway mixed is about $11)

Since you did not buy through the airline I dont know if they would refund but I would sure call them and talk to them. They might be able to change you to different flights to make it better for you. I would get on their website and find better flights and then call them and tell them that the reason you purchased the flights that you did was to get you there when you needed to be there and see what they say. If they say no then I would call cheaptickets.com and do the same with them. It never hurts to try. We did the same thing for a trip last summer and AA was very nice about it eventhough we did not purchase the tickets from them directly. We were not going to Disney but they still were able to work around my schedule. All they can say is no.

I think that you do have a valid point here, because Delta changed the flight times (not cheaptickets.com) In the past, Delta has done this to us before, and when the flight plan changed significantly, they were accomodating if other flights were available. We were once able to have our flights changed to non-stop when Delta increased a layover (I can't remember where). I believe that those tickets were purchased through Expedia.

This has happened to us before, and usually the airlines are very accomodating and let you change your flight. Definitely give them a call. Let us know how it turns out.

This happened to me MANY times in the past, but I booked with the airline directly and was able to either change or cancel my flights completely. Please let us know how it turns out...good luck.

Re: Any recourse for your flight getting totally butchered?

That's funny, this happened to us. Flying out of Albany! We went from a short layover to a 3 hour AND our departure time leaving WDW was bumped up almost another 3 hours. Check Delta to see if there are any flights that work better for you and call Delta. We booked thru a TA and she accepted the change on our behalf,(not nice) so we couldn't change.
I think Peppertink gave me some help with this one...am I correct?

Re: Any recourse for your flight getting totally butchered?

There must have been some problems with the Delta computers because now we can see all of our flights and we've gotten it straightened out. We're back down to our 40 minute layover in Atlanta with an arrival time of 1pm in Orlando.

Much, much better and now the little woman is a lot less stressed out.
