Southwest or Midwest Airline?

The price difference is about $40 higher for Midwest. The big drawback for me on SWA is there's no assigned seating. I really like to be given an actual seat. But, if you're there early, and first in line, then you get your pick so I guess it's a toss up. SWA generally runs more on time than any other airline. The seats on Midwest are supposed to be awesome though. DH loves to fly Midwest. The MWA flight leaves our airport at 9:10, arriving (nonstop) in Orlando at 12:35pm. We leave Orlando at 7pm on our last day. The SWA flight leaves our airport at 7:10am, arriving (nonstop) at 10:50am. I love the extra time on that day. It leaves Orlando at 6:55pm on our last day. Opinions??? I've never flown MWA. I've flown SWA and didn't see anything wrong with it except for no assigned seats. TIA!!

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

I've never flown MWA so I can't be of much help there. I have, though, flown Southwest many times and their on-time percentage rate is very high. I also agree with you about having the extra time on your arrival day. Given the fact that I have to travel with my children I have never had a difficult time finding good seats. Don't forget that you can check in via the internet 24 hours prior to your departure (which is what I do) to guarantee myself in the "A" boarding group.

Good luck!

Oh, I didn't know that about guaranteeing the A boarding group, Monique! I knew you could check in via internet. Well, that certainly helps my decision! Thanks!

Glad that I could help! Just be sure that you do it exactly 24 hours prior to be in the A group. You can even print out your boarding passes as soon as you do this. When you see the big A; you know you're golden.

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

Thanks for the tip! I'll remember that! DH just said he didn't care which we flew. I'm assuming we'll end up on whichever one is cheapest at the time of booking. :)

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

By the way, Consumer Reports just issued their ratings for airlines, and JetBlue and Midwest ranked 1 & 2. :)

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

If a totally enjoyable/comfortable flight is important (along with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies ), Midwest is worth the extra $40.

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

I've never flown MWA but we love SWA. I like that there is no assigned seating, we print our boarding passes at home or our Disney resort so getting seats together isn't an issue.

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

I am so glad that SWA is so good! I have never flown SWA before and that is who we are using this trip and it is a relief to know it is so easy to get seats and check in 24 hours before! My concern is can I also check in for our return trip even tho we will be on the cruise? Will they let us print our return tickets on board? Does anyone know this?

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

We never fly but I have heard a lot of really good things about SWA. You may be able to nip the no seat assingments in the bud if you get there early enough.

I'm sure they will, the CMs at the reosrts are wonderful about checking us in. I've read that the CMs on the cruise are just as good about it.

Re: Southwest or Midwest Airline?

Where do you go at the resorts to check in and get a boarding pass 24 hours before departing the world? The main house where you check in?
