December Flights

I am just dying for late Nov/early Dec flights from NYC. They are all like $200 to $220 each uless you fly back at like 6:40AM. What is up? I usually get about $160 each. Is it just rising costs or is this just a busy time to fly? Anyone have any thoughts?

Re: December Flights

I have been hoping for a super deal in september from Indy, but so far no luck. I am sure one will be available, for like an hour, when I don't have the funds available to book! lol!!

good luck, I hope you get a deal soon!!

Re: December Flights

They are not going to go down. You may have a chance of grabbing some cheaper ones if you wait till the last minute, but who wants to do that. I would wait until 4th of july week however till you purchase. The airlines run specials on memorial day, 4th of july and also on labor day.

Re: December Flights

$200 roundtrip is about what they are going for here at that time of year. Keep your eyes open for a ding fare, or sign up with Spirit, they run some good deals too.

Re: December Flights

OK, I caved this morning (no offense Cavey ). I saw the perfect times on Continental for $199 total and booked. It may go down some but it seems like it is not going to hit the $140 to $160 range that we have in the past. Jetblue which is our other best option is more like $220 total for even questionable times.

I just can't stand the pressure!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: December Flights

I booked Airtran on May 1st out of Philly for $99. I told my friends and they went on the next day and the same exact flights were $203!!!

We are leaving the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so I wanted to make sure we were able to get a seat, since it is so busy.

Southwest usually has their fares available for late Nov/early Dec, but even they are only taking reservations until 11/2. I think the airlines are worried about fuel costs this year.

Re: December Flights

We got ours on Delta. We got quite possibly the greatest itenerary man could possibly think of. only $249 a person round trip from Gulfport,Ms to orlando. We leave out on December 9th and come back on December 14th. Best part about it....we get to Disneyworld @ 10:55 in the morning that first day. Its like a free day of Disney. The way we plan our trip is this :
Day 1 - Arrive, have all day to go to downtown disney and putt putt
b/c we get there so early,we have tons of free time.
Day 2 - Magic Kingdom...whole day dedicated to it
Day 3 - MGM....whole day
Day 4 - Animal Kingdom....whole day
Day 5 - Epcot....whole day
Day 6 - Depart around 11 am.

Days 2-5 we dedicate the whole day to take our time and see every attraction of the particular park. If we finish early,we normally go to downtown disney and pleasure island.Last time we went we didnt get to disney on day one till around 3 or 4...so i know how much of a difference getting there @ 10:55 will make.Thats a whole extra day, that we dont really need, but its nice to have. I think the only way the trip could be better is if we departed later on day 6, to have one last lunch in Disney somewhere.

that's so awesome to get there early. i'm going to hold off on scheduling our flight for just a little longer to see if something becomes available that gets to orlando earlier b/c it really does add a lot to have that arrival day. as of now the earliest for me is 2:50pm.yuck!..

Re: December Flights

alright, so much for holding out to see if better flights become available. the one that i was thinking of scheduling just went up another $9 for 2 hours ago. i'm not to "savvy" when it comes to buying plane tickets so do ya'll think i should jump on this flight or wait it out? i think skwak did the right thing jumping on those flights at that price. mine just went from $218 round trip to $227.

Re: December Flights

i dunno. Im not really good at waiting out flights. I jsut went with the one that got me to Disneyworld the earliest. I just got reaaaaaaaallllly lucky to get there as early as 10:55. We plan out disney trips a year, give or take a few weeks, in advance,so we have the ability to spend a little more. IE: they had cheaper flights, but we would totally have wasted our first day, getting there late in the afternoon.
