We are staying at the POFQ. It will be myself, DH, DD3, DD1, Mother in Law and Great Grandmother. Should we just ride the hotel transportation to and from the parks? We will be driving in and will already have our car.

Opinions? Is the transportation wait long? Is it GREAT to not have to worry about your car?

Gee, I don't know. We've never brought a car to WDW and have always relied on Disney transportation and in mid November, that was always a great thing. We never had to wait more than 10 mins. for any bus and, though they were full, it was ok for me to stand on the bus for a short ride to the parks or resorts.

But, with great grandmother in tow, it might be more comfortable to take the car

We also drive every year, but we have never driven to the parks. Once we park the car at the resort, we don't even see it again, unless we go to another resort for dinner or have to go to Walmart for something.(which we almost always have to do-can't beat a Walmart).
We have never had any trouble with the busses. Of course, sometimes you have to wait a bit, or you may have to stand on the way home, but that is only at the busiest times, like when a park is closing. If you decide to drive your car, you get to park for free, since you are staying on property. Maybe try each for a day and see what you think. Good luck.

That's what I am unsure about. I really like the idea of not packing my car and just hopping on a bus. It will be the first week of December so shouldn't be too busy.

Great-Grandma can be FUSSY so not sure. Part of me thinks I will be doing all of us a favor by doing the busses (that way we don't get pressured to leave on GG's time).

We always use Disney transportation even if we drive our own car. It may take a little longer but it's part of the vacation for us. We like to leave all traces of the real world behind and for us that includes driving. It's nice to let someone else do the work. We rarely have a wait longer than 15 minutes so we don't feel we are wasting time. Plus, if part of our group wants to return to the resort they can, we're not stuck together 24/7.

I would use WDW Transportation over driving myself ANY day!!!!! It's just much more convenient in the long run. You get to get on a nice air conditioned bus/monorail and don't have to walk to/from the parking lot at the parks or find a parking space. You don't have to wait in crazy lines to get out of the parking lot after you board the bus because they have special routes that are only for WDW Transporation. I, personally, think there's nothing worse than getting into an unbearably hot car at the end of a hot day at the parks. Plus, when I'm on vacation, I don't want to do any work and I consider driving work. LOL I hate driving though. I want to be pampered, and being taken everywhere (aka chauffered, hehe) counts for me! LOL

I couldn't agree more! I am glad to know that so many rely on the busses...I really didn't want to worry about driving.

We've done both and both are convenient in their own way. For just a regular day at the park, I would take the bus. In other instances...like on a December trip, we knew the days would be fairly warm and the nights would be chilly...we would need our winter jackets at night so we drove so we wouldn't have to go ALL the way back to the room to get warmer clothes. We also drive if we are starting the day at a water park (in the summer), then straight to a park and then another location for dinner...etc...it's just easier to have a car accessible to us. On another note, parking is not always close by (MK) and if I remember right you have to grab a bus to TTC and then a tram to your section of the parking lot...it's just easier and less time consuming for the most part to ride the bus to/from your resort.
Just keep an open and mind and see what your needs are when you get there.

I would take the buses. My family has done it both ways; we had a rental car one year and no car another year and I just loved the fact that the buses will pick you up and drop you off practically at the front gate. It was also nice to not have to remember where you parked your car and it taking 15 minutes to finally cool off on the inside.
