I check daily on Southwest flights to make sure the ones we want are still available and that the prices aren't going up. Well, because we bought a new car a week ago, purchasing our flights has to wait another 2-3 weeks so we can recover from the down payment and the taxes (for a total of $2700). Fine, no problem, I understand that (DH handles all of our finances). Well, I checked SWA today and the return flight I wanted is no longer available! GRRRR. Not happy with DH right now. So, in order to keep our awesome departure time leaving home (7:10am, arriving at 10:50am), I have to book one way on SWA. Then, to get a good return time from WDW (7pm), I have to book one way on Midwest. This is going to increase our flight costs by $60. I could book the whole thing on midwest or SWA but we'll lose an additional 2 1/2 hours on either our arrival day or departure day!!!! That's precious magic time! Not happening! Thanks for letting me vent. I feel better.

Go JetBlue. It's the best. Or Delta. American Airlines... there are pleny of other options, other than Southwest/Midwest. I dunno why everyone likes them so much.

They're the best option for us because they're the cheapest when flying out of Kansas City. JetBlue doesn't fly out of Kansas City at all. Delta and American were both in the $800 range for roundtrip for us. If I split my flights and fly SWA to WDW and Midwest home, it'll be a grand total of $395. The SWA flights I was looking at were a total of $338. Midwest, with a crappy leaving time (9:10am from KC), is $396. I'd rather have the extra 2 1/2 hours on our arrival day!!!!

I like Southwest because they have great service and an awesome on-time record, not to mention great fares.

Sorry about that, I was worried about that a few days ago when you posted that you had to wait to book your flights. I hope it works out for you. Maybe you 'll have to add an extra night to fix the problem--that seems to be our solution to everything.

I lost our flights because I waited to long and now I can't get a DING, most of them are for way past our dates. The good part is I got to add a couple of nights because we're driving and not locked in because of flights.

I'm sorry to hear that the flights you wanted are booked. But the fares you are getting are still not too bad. I agree with what is being said about Southwest. I just love their on-stop record, the employees are always so pleasant and friendly and the fares, more often than not, are better. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the flights you now want are still there when you book.

I already looked at the option of adding an extra day or 2!!!!! Nothing available! That's why I picked those travel dates to begin with. Bummer.

Kim, the leaving 2 1/2 hours earlier would be on the day we leave The World, not on our arrival day. Crappy.

I pitched the idea of booking one way on each airline (7:10am on SWA coming to the World, 7pm on MWA leaving the World) to get the good travel times and keep our costs at no more than $60 above what SWA was. Thanks for the happy thoughts everyone! I'm going to keep checking and hopefully we won't lose another good flight time. :)

The other SWA flight just reappeared!!!! I guess someone cancelled their reservation and seats are now available. AND, DH hasn't learned his lesson!!!! No luck getting him to book. Oh well. If he doesn't care about spending more money, then I'm not going to waste my energy worrying about it. :)

Just BOOK IT! He will thank you when there is $60 (OR MORE!) in his pocket. Flights are BOUND to go up!!!

Disappointing I could of had round trip air out of Atlantic City for around 100 pp $50 each way. But Im driving it will cost more.

Well, I know no one likes Expedia, but you can book a roundtrip on there with two different airlines.

I've checked all of the 3rd party sites (like expedia) and the flight prices on the airline's websites have proven to be cheaper, for us at least. The same flights on expedia were at least $40 more. I know they charge a fee for using them (3rd party) and a lot of times it throws you over the cost of booking directly through the airline. I found better flight times on the airline's sites anyway! :)
