April 2008 Airfare

I keep checking for April 2008 airfares. I know I am early on this but the figures are just staggering:

$460 from NJ to Orlando RT!

Are they nuts! Any thoughts why it is sooooo high? Maybe I just am looking too far out?

I came across the same issue with flying from Wisconsin, also looking at March/April 2008. Waaayyyyy higher than we paid this past December!! I'm not feelin' too optimistic about fares comin' down . . .

You are looking to far out. Try looking around Labor day, thanksgiving etc. They always run special around the holidays. I would drive before I paid that much to fly.

Try Spirit air out of atlantic city. I have had them as low as $54pp each way.

They do, but it's only on select days and you have to wait until VERY close till your trip to do that. Also remember that spirit now charges you for your luggage.

Is it only spirit that charges or do they all now. Beleive it or not we book a two week trip then after we get afair at a good price cancell the excess days. We work around the flight. We found its worth it for us.

As far as I know, it's only spirit doing this right now. I found out AFTER I booked as they changed their baggage policy. It's $5 per bag per leg for the first two bags person person.....if you (individually) have a third bag, it's $100 for that third bag on top of the $10 for your first two. This is the preflight price. IF you do this at the airport on departure day, it's double...you carry-on is free. I couldn't get all my stuff in a carry on if I wanted to, so I bought 2 bags for both me and my DD....that's $40 for the trip.

that they do. As made as I am about the baggage costs, I will probally fly with them again anyway. I just like that AC airport MUCH more than philly.

We flew out of Hartford this past April and the fare for 3 of us was $1300. I watched the airfare for over 9 months and it never went down. It was the week after Easter and we only have Southwest and Delta to pick from for a direct flight. Our tickets for our next trip (in a few weeks) are only $414. Same people, same destination, same airline!!!

I just checked to see if they had their fares posted yet for April 08 (which is when we need also) and they do not. I am glad. I am not ready to start thinking about airfare just yet.

We get good rates with them too! In fact in December we are flying for $49.00 each way plus tax. It was $89.00 but I just happened to be checking on 2008 flights and I always check on our December flight, it was offered for $49.00 so I called them and I now have a credit of over $200.00 sitting in my account for my next flight.
