Well, last night we paid off the trip and our agent gave us our little packet with our vouchers, etc. Then she mentioned something about us having Disney's ME and asking us if we've recieved our tags, etc in the mail yet? We both looked at each other, shook our heads and said no.

Should we have by now? Should we call Disney to confirm or just double check? It's 36 days till and i just don't want to wait till the last minute. Does anyone have a number we should call to find out?

Awesome.. thanks Dee. My only worry was that it's so close to our leave date. We waited till almost the last minute to pay the trip off (36 days) and i'm wondering if we might fall through the cracks now?

I would definantly call and check just for peace of mind. Our agent always holds the package until all the bits come in and the bits seem to come in 3 or 4 mailings, go figure.

I have heard it reported that even if your yellow tags do not arrive, as long as your are in the system you can still use ME. without the tags it just means you have to pick up your bags and take them yourself to the ME counter. They will load them on the bus with you, some people opt for this so their bags travel with them rather than arriving later.

I'm sure the positive vibes from all the Mousebuzzers will ensure your tags arrive on time.

you know. i just realized that i don't know a lot about how ME works. Is there a seperate area/check in at the airport when we leave? The way it was explained to me was that you leave your bags at your departure and the next time you see them is at your door at your hotel... you never have to pick them up when you land in Disney.

Just to be safe, We're staying at the PoP. Is that where i should call? Or is there a specific Magical Express# i should call? and if anyone has a number, i'd really appeciate it. At work here they block a lot of sites (it's a civil service thing). I had to fight to get access to Mousebuzz

We always get our ME tags 30 days before our trip.

You can call the Central reservations number just to check that they have the ME on your reservation (i call 800-828-0228). Or I found a number for ME --- 866-599-0951

When you arrive you look for CM's with Blue jackets and Mickey hands. They will direct you to the ME counter. It was on the lower floor, below where the bagage pickup was but I think they moved it so I'll let someone else fill you in on that.

If your bags are tagged, don't worry about them. They will be picked up for you and deliver to your room. They will likely arrive 2 - 4 hours after you do so you should bring in carry on anything you think you might need before then (swimsuits, park tickets, etc.)

If they are not tagged, you need to pick them up first.

Check in at the ME counter, then you get in your first queue of your trip. This is when we start the "I Spy" games, our traditional way of passing time in line. Don't worry, the wait to board is not usually long (10 minutes?) although you might wait a little more on the bus for a few arrivals before you leave. Your bus will likely stop at a couple of resorts along the way, hopefully your's will be first.

Our outlook on it is "our vacation has really started" once we see the Mickey hand.

When you leave for WDW put the yellow tags on your luggage and check in and do everything you normally would do when flying, there's no special check in area. When you arrive at MCO you don't need to claim your bags, just head to the DME check in area and you will soon be on your way to your resort. Your bage will be a couple of hours behind you and they will be left in your room when they arrive.

When you leave for home you will get a letter the day before check out telling you what time you will be picked up. It you are flying on one of the participating airlines you can check in at your resort and leave your bags there. If you are not flying on a participating airline you can still use DME you just can't check in at your resort and your bags go under the ME bus for the trip to the airport.

Our tags arrived 2 days before our trip! We paid in full when we booked 6 weeks before, so I'm not sure the pay off has anything to do with ME tags! I had called central reservations, so I wasn't totally freaking out. Go ahead and call, it will give you piece of mind.

ME is great! Just follow the Mickey hands and you're on your way! They were even super about catching up with us when DS's mickey got left on the bus, it fell out of the handle on the suitcase he had it tucked into.

I believe right now it's just American, Continental, jetBlue, Delta, Alaska, Northwest, and United (including Ted). However, you can use DME no matter what airline you use. We usually fly SouthWest and still use DME. We just have to handle our own bags on our return trip.

You can use ME even if your airline is not a "participating airline". Arrival procedures are the same if your on a "non-participating airline". The yellow tags ensure your bags get passed on in Orlando.

The difference is when going home, you only can use the "check-in" service at the Resort if you on a participating airline, you don't have to "check-in" at the airport. And only if the final destination is domestic (in the US)(Canadians have to check in at the airport.)

The participating airlines are: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Northwest, United/Ted, & AirTran.

I found the location of the ME counter:
Proceed to the B side before taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1 of the Main Terminal Building

That's cutting it a bit close to me, but she said there was no reason to worry.

Yea, I just found out my tags were sent to the wrong address, and I won't be getting them.

Anybody else have this happen?

well that is what you get for waiting till last min.... 3 days.... tsk tsk tsk...

Hey- on a real note that really stinks! Part of the great thing about the tags is that you have that extra help in lugging bags. I just emailed mouseketrips when I saw this thread the first time to ask where mine were just in case they were lost- Scott just wrote back and said that they are in the mail to me as I speak! WooHOO!
