Magical Express & Southwest

I called Disney World reservations today and gave them my flight information for the Magical Express. I was told that Southwest does not participate in the program and we will need to get our own luggage and bring it to the bus line.

Is this new? My sister just went in Aug and flew Southwest and they got her lugguage for her. I also went last year and they got my luggage. It wasn't an issue.

Anyone know???

They got my luggage because I'm special and Mickey missed me so much that he couldn't wait for me to get to the park!

Re: Magical Express & Southwest

I would definitely try calling back. I was just there in August and didn't have any issues with having flown Southwest and Magical Express getting my luggage. I know that Southwest is not a participating airline for you to be able to do resort flight check-in for your return home. Call again!!

Nope, not new, just a CM who wasn't totally informed. You will have to handle your own luggage on your return trip but not your incoming trip. You will get the yellow DME tags and your luggage will magically appear in your room later in the day.

Yeah, What DisneyTeacher said. We just got back last week. We gave our luggage to SW with the yellow ME tags and didn't see them again until our room. On the way back, we brought our luggage to the ME bus and then at the airport we got a skycap. The walk from where the Me bus drops you off and the SW checkin area is about 17 miles apart. Best tip money spent on the whole trip!!!

Re: Magical Express & Southwest

We also just returned and SW does not participate in the return "precheckin" at the resort. But if you have the ME tags on your bags they will pick them up for you when you get there. I think you had a clueless cm for that call. Call again to check and see again.

I like to get my bags anyway. Not that big of deal and then I KNOW they are where they are supposed to be.

Re: Magical Express & Southwest

I have had the same exp. Bags are p/u by ME and delivered to your room on your incoming, but outgoing w/ SWA you have to check your own bags in at the airport. As prev. stated bring tip money...well worth it.
Question??? Can you take the Magical Express if you p/u your own bags and put them on the ME bus with you?

This is what we did on our last trip, and yes, you can. So long as you have a reservation with ME, you are fine. We had no problem putting our bags on the bus.

Re: Magical Express & Southwest

Thank you lovemysons...I have a few health issues and my carry-on does not accomodate my necessaties. Although, it only takes 3-5 hrs. to get our luggage, my fear is the loss of the luggage. I feel much better now, knowing that I can get my own luggage. Thank you so very much

That is no problem what so ever. Just make your ME reservations but DON'T USE the ME tags they send you. If they have the ME tags, they will be picked by by ME and trucked to WDW - they will not be on your bus. Only bags that you bring to the bus will be put into the luggage area of the bus.

The bus drivers are not WDW employees and tips are appreciated but not required.
