Best way to travel to WDW from the airport

Hey fellow Disney fans,

The last time I went to WDW we got the full package which included the Disney bus ride to the resort.

This year we planned a cheaper trip I got my own plane tickets with my frequent flyer miles and used my Disney club membership to get a 15% discount on the All Star Movies value resort and discount on park hopper passes.

So getting from the airport to WDW will be up to me. Which way do you recommend for traveling from the airport.

When I travel for work I usually use a taxi or shuttle from the airport to my hotel or client location. But I would be interested in hearing how someone hear travels to WDW from the Orlando airport. Taxi, shuttle, bus, car rental, other? :)

Thanks for any advice.

When I fly, I usually do it one of two ways, either take the shuttle bus [ I use Mears & their #407-423-5566] the going rate is about $25-30 per person round trip.

Or, more inexpensive way is to take a town car -- you can fit about 5 people in one and there is lots of room for your bags and its clean and you don't have to make alot of stops. The best part is the cost on this is only $85 round trip -- so if you have 3 or more people, its actually cheaper! But you have to take Tiffany towncars (mears are too expensive). The web address is tiffanytowncar.com #800-838-2161. If you call in advance they will be waiting at the terminal when you arrive and help you with your luggage--no waiting.

Luvbug is right. tiffanytowncar is a much better way to get from the airport to your hotel. Not only is it cheaper but they take you directly to your hotel and if you ask for it in advance they will even stop by a grocery store for you..... Plus you can get a $5.00 off coupon on mousesavers.com website for them.

How may of you are going? We usually rent a car from Hertz. I can usually find a great rate in Orlando. Hertz picks up about every five minutes from the Airport, and their lot is just across the street. You can usually get a smaller car for about $100 per week. I am a Gold Club member, so I ofter reserve a small car, and end up with something much bigger and better.

The nice thing about having a car is that you can use it if you want, you aren't dependent upon Disney transportation. You never know when you are going to want to go from All Star to Wilderness Lodge for dinner and then to Pleasure Island and back. It takes forever on buses.

A towncar is a great option if you don't want to worry about driving around, or getting to and from WDW. If you go with a rental car, make sure you have a pocket full of change when you leave the airport, there are several toll boths on the way to WDW. I always seem to forget.

Thanks for all the great advice.

This trip will be just me and my wife going. I imagine that driving from the airport to WDW is clearly posted with signs. Some cities I travel to it was helpful to rent a car with a GPS on it, but if I can save on cost this trip, I would rather go the cheaper route this time.

Thanks again for the great replys.

snowmedia, have you checked the Hertz prices? And, do you have AAA? AAA offers members a greater discount on Hertz rentals than I've seen anywhere else (warehouse clubs, coupons, AARP, etc.) And, imho, the best thing about renting from them is their Neverlost (GPS)! It is awesome. I can't say enough about how valuable I found it to be when I went to Disneyland a couple of months ago. Since you've used the GPS before, you may have your own opinion, but I am a convert. And, it only cost me about $8 extra daily with the AAA discount. It was money well spent!

It is very clearly marked. Your biggest problem may be getting from the car rental company to the freeway. Most are located right near the airport, and hence the freeway. You shouldn't have any problem, and all the car rental companies have maps that detail the way to WDW. You can see from the map below that it is freeway all the way. It takes about 15 minutes to drive.

your right about the towncar .. with 4 of us it was the same price as mears but a more comfortable ride with no stops at other resorts :) but mears is great too.

We used Tiffanytowncars and it was great. There is no way that I would take the Mears shuttle anymore. The ride was comfortable and the driver great. They were waiting for us at baggage claim and right there when it was time to leave......

The Mears busses go to all disney resorts. You can try Ibex Towncar, they are a really good transport service.

traveleasy, sorry, but we do not allow "self promotion" on DisneyCentral. We have forum sponsors who pay to advertise here, and obviously, it wouldn't be fair if we collected money from them and then allowed you to advertise for free. If you are interested in becoming a sponser, feel free to contact me.
