Aww that's to bad, but you still have plenty of time. Make sure you sign up on both websites for their "DEals" and I am sure they will have more promo fares, keep checking back periodically. Hey who knows....you may end up getting even a better fare by waiting.

Re: Tell me about Air Tran

Flew AirTran last week from Boston to Orlando and back.
On Time departure and smooth flight from Boston to Orlando.
Delayed departure 1/2 hour and rough flight from Orlando to Boston.

Non-Stop - $212 roundtrip

I would fly again.

Re: Tell me about Air Tran

Just wanted to point out an airline definition. A non-stop flight is non-stop. You take off and land only once - at your destination. A direct flight has a stop, but you don't need to get off the plane. You will stay on-board and wait while others get off and board.

If you don;t want to stop, don't book a "direct" flight. Book a "non-stop" flight.

Ironically, I only had carry on luggage

Also- check your flight reservation often for changes (this last trip they didn't notify us of a significant change).
It's odd, quoting yourself... I am happy to report that other than leaving late (weather related delay), my Airtran flight last week was fine. We flew back on a different carrier due to the schedule change.

We fly Air Tran all the time = no problems ever

We fly Air Tran at least once a month. There are nonstop flights between Indianapolis and Orlando and we are regulars on those flights. We just got back from Las Vegas last night via Air Tran. So far, always on time (not including weather delays), luggage always arrives with us, fares are fair. We even got an Air Tran Visa, charge almost everything on our Visa (pay in full every month) to rack up free flights. Easy to redeem. I highly recommend Air Tran. No complaints ever with Air Tran. Now, America West is nicknamed America Worst for a reason ... the stories I could tell about that airline!

Re: Tell me about Air Tran

Well, I booked our flights with Air Tran today. The non stop flight times were just so much better than SW. We paid the extra $5 a piece to pick our seats.

Can anyone give we a run down on their procedures for printing boarding passes and actual boarding the plane. The past few years we've only flown SWA so any tips will be very helpful. I like to have things planned out with no surprises.

Re: Tell me about Air Tran

We flew into Orlando yesterday on Air Tran. It was a nonstop from Boston. Not only were there no problems, we enjoyed the flight, it departed a few minutes early, we upgraded to business class (easy to do, and cost much less than buying a business class ticket outright at initial booking, but not always available), the crew was warm and friendly, and a few more minutes were shaved off the already early flight.

I am sitting at my computer at AKV (we like the changes made to convert the rooms from Lodge to Villa), waiting for the sun to rise. My DW is sleeping.

Notes on Air Tran:
* the Air Tran website is very clear (now?) about which flights are direct and which are not.
** Hidden costs: It costs money to book your seats assignments on line -- $5.00 each for regular seats, $20.00 each for exit row seats. Cha Ching Cha Ching. The alternative is to wait until you get to the airport, where seat assignments are free, but picked through.
*** If you are at all in doubt, put your luggage on a scale at home, there is a charge for overweight bags, $25.00, and a mere pound over 50lb will do it. Cha Ching Cha Ching

Re: Tell me about Air Tran

I fly AirTran and like it. My only complaint is the seats are tight. I am average size and an about 5 foot three. Still tight. I can deal with it but DH is 6 foot..would be bad for him.
