Re: Southwest questions

If you are in the parks when your 24 hour opens, do you go to guest services to do the online check in and print your boarding passes?

You only have to check in once. There is no seat assignment, you pick your seat when you board the plane. That's how they board so fast, you aren't looking for a certain just an open seat. If you are the last family to board a full plane the agents make sure each child gets to sit with a parent.

That's an option I have read about. We have called family at home and had them check in for us then had the hotel print our boardign passes later.

The earlier you check in the earlier you board the plane. Your boarding pass will have a number and letter, the As board first in number order, then the Bs and finally the Cs. If you have a small child you board between the A and B group.

Re: Southwest questions

Yes, DT, that is now the process.Last year, on our trip down, we got to preboard with our 3 year old. On the way home, they wouldn't let us preboard. We had "A's" so we got to board early, but if we didn't, we would have had to board between A and B. It changed over the week we were at WDW!
We enjoy being able to pick our seats. We try hard to get an A boarding pass, so that give us a minute to get everyone settled before take off. One thing about SWA, they don't waste time. You get on the plane, and you are gone!

Re: Southwest questions

Sue299- last year on our way to WDW, the flight attendant said the following:
" In the event we lose pressurization on the plane, an oxygen mask will fall from the ceiling. If you are traveling with a child, please place the mask on yourself first, before placing it on your child. If you are traveling with 2 or more children, just pick your favorite!"
He also said, "If your life jacket doesn't blow up when you pull the cord, you can use this tube to blow it up manually. If that doesn't work, you are having a bad day!

that is tooo funny. ours said something about going down - but if she even thought that was going to happen she would have stayed in bed!

Wonder how many people actually LISTEN to them? Maybe these "jokes" are their way to get people to hear what is important too.

I personally love SW and would only fly them. The on time factor helps, but if you decide to change your day/time you are not punished with a fee either.

Re: Southwest questions

You know Sue, our flight attendant didn't say anything about going down, but on our way home, as we were beginning our descent, my three year old kept yelling "We're going down!!" Others around us didn't enjoy that very much!

OMgosh. I'm not quite sure I would enjoy that either!

That is too funny.

That would be better than hearing the pilots run through their preflight stuff. In December as we were waiting for the plane to board we heard all the warnings--Windsheer!, Windsheer! Terrain--Pull up! Terrain Pull Up! and several more things, I sat there like this

Oh good grief! I would have sat there the same way!

Re: Southwest questions

Love SW. They are always on time (or early), I have never had a cancelled flight and no lost luggage. The new boarding system is much better. Get an A, B or C and line up by the number on the boarding pass.

It was awful. I hate to fly and that was the last thing I needed to hear at that moment.

SWA lost our luggage once but they had it at our door by 10 am the next day.
