Re: Southwest questions

We love SW too! They are one of a few airlines here that will fly direct to MCO, plus we have really never had any issues with them either. They lost one of our bags last year, but had it back to us within 24 hours. They are great!

You're right... that would make me VERY nervous! I don't mind flying. actually I like to fly better than the long drive!

I talked my DH into going in an open cockpit bi-plane a few years ago at Myrtle Beach. We rode up front, the pilot in the back. It was awesome.

Thanks. Since we will be in the parks at that time, I don't want to have to return to our resort just to check in and get a good boarding number.

Re: Southwest questions

I really liked flying southwest for the first time last aug the only thing that stressed me out was the actual printing out of boarding passes and checking in.

Then this couple had to leave the plane because there were no two seats together and they had a three year old with em and no one would move just so the kid could sit by one of the parents. Rude people

That is rude. I like to sit w/my DH but I would have moved it that were the case. But why didn't they board with the children between A and B, were they late?

That is also one thing, I am always at the airport in Plenty of time to make sure I am not late.

Re: Southwest questions

They were not late I guess they were in the C line and the only seats available were the single seats, but no one would get up to make room for the mom and kid.

I've never flown SWA, but I have heard great things about it! Question for you SWA vets...how far in advance are flights released? How far in advance are dings offered? If I can find a great fare for our Thanksgiving trip, I might be inclined to fly rather than drive... .

But they let parents with small children board before the majority of customers (between the A and B groups) just so that doesn't happen. Perhaps those people were not aware of that. What a shame.

I'm surprised the flight attendants didn't make room some where!

They will probably release the dates for November around June or July. Dings at first, in the middle and later. If you're not really set on a time too go, the wait for a ding, sometimes they are better for "off time" flights.

I want the earlierst flight out - this time it is 6:45, arrive 9 am. I sleep most of the flight and am refreshed, ready to go when we get to DW. That way we have a whole day on the day we arrive.

Gotta get in here....
SWA is NOT my favorite airline. They may have a great reputation for being on time, and not losing luggage...wonderful....
My problem is they way they board...the whole "A-B-C" process. I feel like they heard us like a bunch of cows! People get very edgy while boarding, trying to get 'good' seats, and trying to sit next to their traveling companions. Then you have parents of 'older' children that are not able to board between "a & b" who try to convince someone to change their seat so they can sit together, or even worse they will loudly let everyone around know they want to get seated together until someone gives up their seat. You book Southwest, you gotta learn to take what you can get wheather you like it or not. Bugging people to move if they don't offer is, in my opinion, rude.
Towards 'C' seating you get people who go all they way to the back of the plane, can't find 2 seats together, and then try to make their way back to the front of the plane. This is more convenient than assigned seating?? I feel this whole process makes the attendants edgy as well, 'Please sir, find a seat and sit down, we've got to get going!" And, as someone mentioned before, the whole "gotta get my boarding pass printed!!" stress.
As much as I hate the boarding process, If SWA offers the best price on a ticket, I'm there! It really comes down to the $$$ for me.
Now, don't get me going on the passengers who take advantage of what a 'carry on' is...
