Re: Warning!!!!

We always book our flights as soon as possible. We are flying Delta this time as we got some really great rates from our very own town. They have changed things several times but all within minutes or even just the flight numbers. Otherwise we always drive to a larger airport and fly Air Tran. I sure hope we don't have any problems as I am getting ready to book our May flights.

Re: Warning!!!!

I know people gripe that SWA releases their dates late but we have never had a flight change, not once. They wait later than most airlines so they don't have to adjust their flights. I would rather wait and get exactly what I booked than book early and have my flight moved all around.

Is this a relatively recent development? Did they do it before the advent of the internet? I've flown 30 or 40 times in the past 25 years, and have only experienced/heard about it in the last couple years.
Wanted to set the record straight. (I'm such a loon). I frequently fly American, but this Disney trip that was bumped around so much was on Delta, not American.

Re: Warning!!!!

I had heard many bad things about Airtran before we used them on our last trip home. Not only did they have the lowest price but they upgraded us to Business Class on our first trip with them! The flight was on time and smooth! You never know what to expect with any airline these days. I think we all just pay our money and take our chances. SWA is what I always fly and people have complained about cattle call loading with them. I have never had any issues with them either. I am sorry you had a bad experience but I think it is getting to be a pretty common experience these days!

Re: Warning!!!!

Always fly SWA out of Manchester, NH to MCO and to So. Cal and have never had a flight changed on us (YET that is). We only take 2 air trips per year, so maybe we have been lucky. By the way, SWA is the only airline that has not lost our luggage and now it seems as though they are the only airline that does not charge for luggage.

I have heard many good things about SWA - unfortunately they do not fly out of the NYC area.

Re: Warning!!!!

I am on the East Coast, but I am not familiar with the airports that would be near you (such a large area). SWA does fly in /out of Long Island (ISP), is that too far a drive for you? I know that one of the ways that SWA keeps their fares lower, is by flying into the smaller airports. i.e Midway instead of O'Hare, etc. I have found that even flying out of one of the smaller airports, the fare is lower and I spend much less $$$ on the parking while I am away than at the major airports.

Thanks. Yes, the two closest airports for SWA for us are Phil and ISp. Both are about 2+ hours away! Unfortunately SWA does not fly into JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, White Plains or Stewart. It is almost like they are avoiding NYC. Maybe it is not a good $$ route?

Re: Warning!!!!

Airtran changed our flight too, but we were able to call them and change to a flight we wanted, it worked out in our favor, we went from a one stop flight to non stop.

Can't beat that! We drove 150 miles extra one way and spent a night in a hotel just to get a non-stop vs. a one-stop.

Our flight was changed as well. A few times actually. The first time it was changed it didn't work for us at all and we were able to call and change to one that did work. The other changes were just by a few minutes (no more than 30 mins) from our original times. All are giving us more time at Disney, so that excites me!

Re: Warning!!!!

JetBlue keeps sending us a new departure time, or new flight number... we have gotten three updates in the last month for the same trip.
