I had something like this happen when I was flying on orders when I was in the military. Usually military flies United but for some reason I was put on Continential. They changed by flight by 6 hours and I was late reporting in. When I called to see if they could put me on an earlier flight since I was on orders they told me it was my fault for booking a late flight and being so irresposible (funny I didn't book it the military travel agency did). I ended up flying back to my station through continential as well and had ALOT of problems getting back. I decided never to fly with them again.
United isn't too bad. Ive only had them change one flight on me and it only caused problems because I had to get through customs and onto the next plane (with DD) in under 45 minutes. As much as I love Tokyo's airport, its not a place to rush through. I almost didn't make it but the Japanese airlines held the plane for us.

I checked my reservations yesterday and found my flight changed (Air Tran). I also found they did not have one of the boys on the flight down. Now I admit to thinking of leaving it like that, but .... I called them.

To their credit, I called and had everything resolved smoothly & politely. So much so I sent an email to the customer service site thanking them, and the young lady who helped me.

But it pays to check. And check. and then check again.

That's exactly what I'm doing. I go on their website twice a week just to make sure everthing is okay. So far, so good, but I'll keep checking until it's time to go.

Thanks for the heads up..... I checked with JetBlue and they changed our flight # going down... Everything from then on was fine.....
