Hello Everyone,

I could certainly post a rant about the evils of airline policies! Airtran - no more!!

However - I will just say this: check your airline reservations often. We book most often 6 to 9 months in advance. You pay your money and think you are all set. No way!!

That A-airline (can't use the name anymore) changed our flights so many times and so drastically (no non-stop, leaving 2 1/2 hours earlier) that we can't use the reservations. All they could do was refund our money so that we could book with a real airlines for over double the cost!!!

Check, check, check!!

We have had this happen with both Midwest and American, so it isn't just your airline. It's so frustrating that they can just change the time of the flight so drastically. A lot of people book flights depending on the time, and for them to just willy-nilly change it at their will is a load of C#%P.

I am so sorry to hear about your reservations. I understand your frustration totally. Spirit changed my reservations multiple times and also added fees from the time I booked until the time I flew. I didn't even have the option to get the refund and book again..it was do it their way or pay the $200 change fee or cancel and lose it all. In these times with the economy being what it is, you would think they would "up" their customer service to get and keep your business. It's frustrating to know that we (customers) don't really matter all that much to them. Poor way to do business.

They just did it to us on Frontier, we will lose around 4 hours of Disney time to catch an earlier flight. We are only spending 3 nights in Disneyland this time and we have an early flight out and had a late flight back home. This would have given us 4 days in the parks. They changed it, not us. Makes me mad!! They couldn't change to a next day flight because there wasn't any frequent flier seats left. We were willing to pay an extra night in disney

OMGosh! I would be so upset and totally feel for your situation. I don't care to fly anyway, so if this were to happen to me I would be furious! I hope SW doesn't ever do these things. I'm sorry your going through this. Your going on vacation to relax, not have more frustrations.

That is too bad. I am so sorry this happened to you. I think the airline your speaking of is in some real trouble. I've heard this from so many. With them changing flight schedules. I think they are trying to fill the planes.

Happened to us too (Delta), though not as harmful as some of you. During the 11 months after we booked, we had 1/2 a dozen moves between 15 minutes and 2 or 3 hours. Plus had a flight canceled and moved to another. But we rolled with it and made it work to our advantage, deciding to attend MVMCP upon arrival. Had terrible M-E service, but still got to the party by 4:20.

Is this a relatively recent development? Did they do it before the advent of the internet? I've flown 30 or 40 times in the past 25 years, and have only experienced/heard about it in the last couple years.

Yeah, I only fly Continental for these reasons alone. I did have a good experience on Spirit in August but I hate straying from the mainstream airlines. Discounts talk, but when you are put through the grinder it's not worth it. So sorry.

Airtran did the same thing to us. The plan was to fly out on an evening flight so the kids could go to school. They changed us from a 7pm flight to a 3pm flight. So much for school that day. Since then it has changed a few more times ..Nothing that drastic..10 min here or there. I hope they don't do anything else major before January!

Since Midwest Airlines cancelled out flight to Orlando this Dec. we booked with Airtran. So far our times are the same (I will keep a close look though), but they did change our seats without telling us. My dgd will be flying for the first time and they somehow put a stranger between my dd and dgd. Good thing I checked.

We've actually been changed on JetBlue for our flight in January too! They used to have two flights going in and out of Stewart/Newburgh, NY and now they cut back to one. So they bumped us to the earlier flight coming home (I'm losing a whole Disney day!!) And the time keeps getting earlier and earlier (I got another email that they changed it this week again!!) Hopefully it doesn't get any earlier than 11 am!! I hate getting up early on departure day!!

Ok, I am crossing my fingers, I booked flights in April or May for this coming January.
Two weeks ago I got a message that the flight times had changed. I looked and they had only changed by minutes. They gave me the option to pick another flight, which I did and they gave me $100 per ticket back. I got better flights that grant us an additional 12 hours at WDW and going back home, the same thing, instead of leaving in the morning, we leave at 8 PM.
I cross all my fingers that it stays this way.

Dana, I had the same problem with Spirit. After our December flight, I doubt I'll ever fly them again.
