Think Newark. It might be the opposite direction up the NJ Tpke from the Philly airports but they always have better fares. I fly in and out visiting my father and always get one way fares for 100-125 each way. I am flying out of Newark on the 24 and meeting my wife in WDW for a 9 night vacation. It was &100 for a one way leg Newark to Orlando. My flight from Savannah GA on the 21st was more expensive at $137. I live 11 hrs from Dad in SC and it is another 4.5 hrs to WDW. 15+ hrs of road time saved means more relax and MOUSE time. :-) Rich

I looked into Newark,AC & baltimore. Christmas is a very high time to fly

Spirit came in at $1775 for 5 of us which isnt too bad. I may look into that. The only problem is that I would be missing a day because everything coming home is booked.

I advised her that it is going to be a mad house. IF she "acts" up Im going to leave her there and I dont think Im kidding!!!

Those tickets can be saved for a future trip for her, right? or someone else in your family, if you end up killing her before this trip takes place!

My in laws were difficult during our last trip to WDW, I finally said at one of the meals, We need a break from each other...the next day was to be our free day and I just told them they could do what they want while we did our thing and we would meet up at supper at ADR. We needed to do this or I was going to go postal.

Have her fly (on her dime) and meet you while you drive.

We did that with my in laws. I couldn't have survived a 24 hour drive with my father in law, I would have abandoned him at the side of the road in TN or GA (we drive from IA). We had a car service bring them to the resort and take them back to the airport.

It was great, I also made them use the bus. We had our van with us but I didn't want to always use it...so we told them to use the bus with us or they could pay the gas.

I always brought the agenda for the next day up at supper or at bedtime. The inlaws would say they would do the same or hang back and do something else. Sometimes they kept the younger kid so we older ones would do the adult rides. I always made it clear they wanted to do this vacation, we were paying our own bill so they were NOT going to ruin our vacation that we worked hard for!! I had to make it very clear or I would not have survived it. They still gave me gray hairs over a couple of issues as it was.

I am not sure what I would have done if they would have been their normal irritating selves. Love them I do, just not in the same room for 8 days plus 48 hours in the same van.

I would have had to buy alot of beer or a big gun other wise.

So take her with RULES up front. Unless she is paying your way, she needs to follow the rules or she can go home!!!!

I know!! Trust me.. .I feel bad but like I said before I will not hesitate to leave her and do my own thing!!! We will see.. Perhaps she will change her mind in the mean time.

The Spirit flights aren't too bad. I paid just under 2000. last Christmas for the five of us. Just keep checking. As for your mother, I have no good advice. Maybe you can put her on fast pass duty to keep her out of your hair. Good luck, Disney at Christmas is amazing.

So sorry!! I'm lucky enough to not have that situation, but my MIL, now thats a different story!! Drop her in the Black Lagoon All kidding aside families can be tough, we have seven kids all with different personalities, throw in 5 spouses and in laws for potentially explosive scenes. Ahh can't you feel the love?

I agree, it's your life and you're an adult so you don't have to take her. I think it's rude she invited herself on your vacation. I hope it works out.

Just start thinking of places where you can ditch her if needed. Just tell her that if you ever get lost, you will just meet her back at the room. Make sure your cell phone is off.

So my mom called me today. What is up with people calling me before 7?!?!!?
She said that she doesnt know if she will be able to make it on the trip because her doctor doenst want her out walking or something like that. She has had her knee repalced and is about to have the other. She is about to have surgery for something with her back. I dont know if its before or after the trip so perhaps God heard me last night and made some arragements for her If not Im sure it will all work out because I WILL leave her there!!!
