Minivan rental - confirmed built-in child safety seats?

Has anyone recently rented a minivan for their WDW trip where they were able to confirm the vehicle had built-in child safety seats when they made their reservation? How did things work out? I REALLY don't want to bring car seats on the plane for our kids (5 and 3) or pay $20 a day to rent them. TIA!

Welcome to Disney Central derek! It's good to have you with us. I don't know the answer you need, but wanted to welcome you. When you spoke to the rental people, did you ask for the built in child seats? If they said that they have that available to you, ask them to email a confirmation saying so. This way you at least have it in writing. I would definately stress to them that you have 2 children that MUST have the car seat. No other suggestions for you. Sorry maybe a mini-van renter will come along. Welcome again.

Not sure what to tell you. Most rental companies will not guarantee that the minivan will have the built-in seats. I can identify with your concern, though since I travel with my 2yo.

That being said, many of the new minivans (and some cars) have the built-in seats, but not all of them do.

Depending on if you have a frequent renters card for your rental company and what their policies are you may be able to choose the car you want.

Overall though, if you don't get it in writing, then you cannot assume that you will get it.

Sorry I cannot tell you anything more optomistic.

Hi Derek! I rented a minivan when I was there in August, and there was not a built in car seat. Maybe it was that particular model...it was a 2003 Silhouette through Alamo. Don't know if that makes a difference. We just bring our own car seat...I hate paying $6-$8 a day to rent theirs!

We just got back & rented a minivan from Avis - no built in carseats. We just rented them because we had enough stuff to drag through the airport already. They were actually brand new seats - worked out fine for us. We had a Chevy Venture.
