Plane tickets question..

Anyone have expierence with their plane tickets dropping in price?

We have 5 tickets w/ Delta/Song and just noticed the fares for our same flights have dropped a bit.

Do they refund your money? Or just give you credit for future flights?

Thanks!

I didn't think Song ever drops their fares! They increase 14, 5, and 3 days prior to the flight though (or when the designated number of seats at each price level get sold out). I would say give Song a call and ask them what on earth is going on! That totally goes against their pricing policy that they have listed on their website as far as I can tell.

Plane tickets question..

My only experience has been with Spirit Airlines. On several occassions I have booked well in advance and then have seen the fares come down in price. On 2 flights, I had paid in advance by credit card and in those cases I was given a credit voucher for the difference on a future flight.
The other time it was for a group reservation for 11 people on which had paid only the required 25% deposit. The fares actually dropped 2 times and in each case Spirit was willing to subtract the difference from the balance due. I ended up saving about $90.00 per ticket, so I was very happy about watching the fares on a regular basis.
Good luck with your situation. I hope they are as fair as Spirit.

Seems as Song is up to their normal Delta tricks. If they are supposed to be like Jetblue then the price should be the price. Anyway usually when the fare goes down they will give you a voucher for the difference...sometimes they tell you have to pay the change fee but go to the top and get a different answer.

I have had this same problem. I was dealing with US Airways when the price dropped about fifty dollars. I did try conacting them several ways and I got the same anwser each way. We make NO refunds or credits. Sorry. I was really bummed and mad too. :(

Yes, believe it or not they dropped in price about 40 dollars per ticket - and I have 5 tickets!!

They gave me the credit towards a future flight. I was hoping to get and actual credit to have more money to spend in WDW, but the credit gives me a good excuse to fly down to WDW again real soon!!

That's great that they gave you the credit. That recently happened to us with Delta for our Bahamas trip. We booked a ticket for my parents to Paradise Island, and the next day it came down $10! I mean, it's only $10, but still! So we called to see if they would credit us and they said no, they only will give a credit in international tickets if the difference in price is $100 or more! :(

WOW thats great!! What airline were you dealing with???? Maybe I should push a little harder next time. I nearly had the same problem again but decided to wait a little while longer before buying the tickets. I am glad I waited longer because the tickets have gone down another thirty dollars!

I have had this happen with Southwest Airlines. I always book everything in advance because I have this fear of waiting and not being able to get flights at the specific times that I want. Well anyhow I booked with Southwest and then 2 weeks later they announced a special, which wound up being around $280 less for the three of us so I called and they gave me a credit to be used on a future flight. Only problem is it has to be used within 12 months. Hmmmmm, maybe another trip to WDW would be in order, say around Christmas time.:p :hmmm :p

I'm REALLY cheap...

Well, as many of us here do, I get OBSESSED when I plan a vacation. (I have PS's for dinner for each night, but I'm letting each day flow this time. Last time I had a different spreadsheet for each day. )

Anyhoo, last year, we went down in the afternoon and only arrived in time for dinner and we only got to use the UPH for DisneyQuest that night. So this year, I wanted to make sure that we got the earliest flight down and the latest flight back.

Both JetBlue and Song have $85 flights (give or take a couple of bucks), but I couldn't get a $175 round trip using a single carrier. :(

However.. :D since both charge one-way rates for each way, we're flying down from Boston on JetBlue and flying back on Song. For the 4 of us, it's a snake's hair less than $700. (side note: turns out we're taking the FIRST non-stop from Boston and the last non-stop from Orlando)

I LOVE the internet and web fares!!! :p

Since I got the lowest possible rate, there's no chance of me being undercut.

FWIW, I use SideStep (http://www.sidestep.com) to double check any rates that I'm seeking.

Matt

OK don't worry you are not the only one that LOVES planning your travel. I love planning travel and I too created a little sheet that had an itenerary, Ps's for the day and the codes for that, and ALL our flight info and codes, and hotel and Tiffany's Towncar stuff. I too am a lover of the internet but and web fares because I have found some really good deals. I was wondering though.. what is SideStep and what does it do???

it checks all the different websites and tells you which one has the lowest fare. the best thing to do is if you are going to buy online buy directly from the airline website because you have better recourse should something go wrong and it is less expensive when you want to make a change.
