Vero Beach Activities

Hello!

Well, we may be fortunate enough to have enough points left over next year to have my parents get to spend a 5 or 6 days at Vero Beach. I'm sure that they can do several "day trips" like up to Daytona or St. Augustine, and down to Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, but is there enough to do there at Vero beach for a couple of days? They aren't ones to just sit around the resort all day, but they only want to do Disney for one day.

Thanks for any first hand information you can give me!!

Re: Vero Beach Activities

We have wondered this, as well. The brochures make the place look like it is a really solid Disney property with a good pool/slide, and the rooms look nice. Our questions are more kid-related, like are there activities after it is too dark to play on the beach? Is the beach good for kids (not too much undertow, plenty of soft sand, etc...)? Are there characters onsite? ETc... Thought I would tag along on this thread, just in case Mickey or someone else "in the know" has all the answers...

Re: Vero Beach Activities

I wasn't sure if you were talking about staying at Vero the whole time. St. Augustine is a very long way from Vero, as well as Daytona. It is about 2 hours from Disney to St. Augustine. There is really a lot to do there, so I would plan on spending two days in St. Augustine. The original Ripley's Believe it or Not is there as well as many historical locations, and if you are into golf The World Golf Hall of Fame is right up I-95, and has an IMAX and many other wonderful stores, and they even have a beautiful hotel (onsite and offsite) and I would recomend both.

Re: Vero Beach Activities

Yes, I was thinking they could sleep at Vero Beach every night and take several day trips and then have a couple days in/near Vero Beach.

Yeah, I truly don't know if a say trip to St. Augustine or Daytona is really fasable. I would say maybe Tampa. I am not real familiar with much down there south of WDW. I do know Busch Gardens is in Tampa and the also have a nice aquarium.
