Pleasure Island Description
My friend Megan and I plan on heading over to PI one night during our trip and want to know what it is like. We understand that it is a series of nightclubs, but what is the clientel like? Do a lot of people get drunk? Are the clubs usually busy? What is the attire?
Also, what has your personal experience with PI been? Thanks ![]()

Re: Pleasure Island Description
Pleasure Island is a very popular night spot for the younger generation. That being said, you'll also find plenty of older people there just checking it out. As with any large venue that serves alcohol, some people do go to excess but I certainly wouldn't say there are a lot of drunks there. Dress is very, very casual.
Pleasure Island is experimenting with something new these days. You used to have to pay just to gain access to Pleasure Island, but Disney now allows you to walk the grounds for free and pay only if you want to go into the nightclubs. The cover charge is around $20 and gives you admittance to all the clubs. There's also a large outdoor stage where bands perform live nightly, and every night is New Year's Eve with a fireworks countdown and display at midnight. Here's a description of the clubs at Pleasure Island from Disney's Web site: 8 Trax – Boogie oogie oogie to this '70s and '80s club for all your retro dancing favorites. If you love to get down to the Bee Gees, Donna Summer and the Village People, keep on truckin' over to 8 Trax. Adventurers Club – Take an expedition into the past in this audience-participation comedy club for tall tales of explorers' adventures. Get into the fun of it and shout the rallying cry: Kungaloosh! BET Soundstage™ Club – Bust a move on over to this two-story soundstage environment and head on down to the dance floor. The DJ spins phat tunes from the latest hip hop to old school R&B favorites. Get your groove on! Mannequins Dance Palace – Go for a spin at this pulsing, flashing, energizing dance club. The huge floor actually rotates as you gyrate to booming sounds of techno trance tunes. It's a dance revolution! Motion – Groove to the latest videos on the massive screen. This outrageous dance club has captured a non-stop youthful energy and put it to the beat of Top 40 music. If it's happening now, it's happening here! The Pleasure Island Jazz Company – Ease into the velvet sounds of smooth jazz in this mellow night spot. Enjoy live musicians nightly at this cool club with the energy and sophistication of a real music lover's paradise. Rock 'n' Roll Beach Club – Catch a wave of fun at this beach party of a nightclub. The good times last all night long with great live bands on selected evenings, as the classic hits of yesterday meet the newest hits of today. Come here to catch a wave of fun. The Comedy Warehouse – Get in on the act at this warehouse where the tin roof rattles with laughter. Catch the best in improv comedy — you never know what's going to happen next!

Re: Pleasure Island Description
I highly recommend the Adventurers Club. The actors interact with the "new members" and halarity ensues! Fun atmosphere, comedy is at times a little more adult, but older kids would like it too. KUNGALOOSH!! MM

Don't want to spoil your fun, but did I read in another post that you are 16? If so, you won't be able to get into Pleasure Island Clubs without an adult. At Mannequins and BET you must be 21 to even get in. Picture ID is required.

Re: Pleasure Island Description
I first went to PI when I was 18, by myself (this was 15 years ago), and had a blast. My favourite was the Adventurer's Club, and is still a lot of fun to go to.
Of course, I really like Mannequin's now - I used to do a lot of 'clubbing' around the world, and I have to say that I really like it - it's unique (love that dance floor!). There's still plenty to see, considering the open access facilities, and there is music piped over the rest of the island for outside. And once the show starts on the stage, it's like one big street party. There's a huge range in attire - on the weekends, the locals are dressed right out, with many tourists in shorts and T-shirts. During the week, it's more tourists than anything. I don't recall much drunkeness...and that's probably because I don't recall much of anything from those nights (he he he) - just kidding. Sure, there will be some, but the Disney folks don't let anything get out of hand. I did see someone get the boot once...
