I wasn't sure if DTD was a place where you take kids? My DD's will be 10 and almost 8 when we go and I think we will be staying at POFQ so I know ther is a boat available. Thanks from the DTD unknown

Re: Should I take my kids to Downtown Disney?
Definitely. There are lots of stores I am sure they would love to browse around in. They have great toy stores...be prepared. Whenever we go to disney we stop at Downtown Disney Marketplace the morning before we head home. There are also restaurants, snack type places, etc.

Re: Should I take my kids to Downtown Disney?
YES! Although we don't have kids - we have taken many a niece & nephew and had a blast - if nothing else drop them off at DisneyQuest and let them play all day/night. If you've never been its a great place if you grew up with all the video games like DigDug, Pacman, TRON, centipede, asteroids, etc etc... but it doesn't just have the old stuff, the newest video games and 3d games as well as some others that I just can't put into a category. It has a nice little version of Pizza Planet and other snacks. I love it and always go at least once during the vacation.

You also have to try the new Earl of Sandwich restaurant. We ate there several times on our recent visit and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the value. Any sandwich you want is 4.95 and is made fresh. The bread is amazing!

Yes, take them to DTD. I have always observed kids of all ages having lots of fun at the Lego store/play area. And, the Lego sculptures are amazing to see. There are lots of browsing opportunties (as well as spending opps!) (You may want to make sure that your children know their budget.)

Re: Should I take my kids to Downtown Disney?
Yes! Absolutely! The great little boat ride from POFQ is worth the trip alone and it's a good break from the parks. And all the kids seem to LOVE those squirting fountains. If you want to try Rainforest Cafe, there's one here. Have a little talk before you go on "budgets" though - lol.

Re: Should I take my kids to Downtown Disney?
Definately!!!! We wound up at DisneyQuest twice on our stay. Our DS loved it!!!! If they are pin collectors, there is the huge pin store there, along with all the others to get pins too. They will love the stores. They aren't all Disney either. There is a huge magnet store and magic store too.

You said the magic word, magnet. I love collecting them. What is the disney quest. Never heard of it. And how much should I budget for the rainforest cafe? Do you have to pay to get into DTD? Thanks

Re: Should I take my kids to Downtown Disney?
Downtown Disney is a great place to take kids. There are several "areas" to downtown Disney. There is the Marketplace, which has many great shops (including once upon a toy and The lego store, and The world of Disney. Also lots of yummy eateries at the Market Place, including Earl of Sandwich, Fultons Crab house, Cap'tn Jacks, and Rainforest Cafe. If you want to go to the Rainforest Cafe, I would recommend going to the one at Animal Kingdom. The AK one allows you to make Priority Seating Reservations and the DTD one does not. You could end up waiting an hour(+) for dinner at the DTD location.
There is also an AMC movie theater and Disney Quest which is a HUGE indoor interactive arcade with one of a kind video games and virtual reality and simulators. If you have an Ultimate Park Hopper Pass, admission is included to Disney Quest, other wise, they charge a separate admission. There is also Pleasure Island (which they charge for (unless you have hopper tickets) and you have to be 21 and up to get in. And then there is Downtown Disney's West side. There is the House of Blues, Virgin MegaStore, Cirque Du Solie, etc. Mostly shopping. I would recommend that you stick to the Market Place at Downtown Disney. Easily you could spend several hours and make sure to give the kids an allowance down here...there are LOTS of temptations!!!!! There is not charge to get in to the Market Place. Depending on how late you leave, you may have to take a bus back to your resort. But each "area" of downtown disney has their own bus stop. Take the kids!!!! I would warn that maybe you should tell them how much they can spend before you go. There is so much shopping and food to buy it is hard. DTD has become HUGE when you include West Side.

Re: Should I take my kids to Downtown Disney?
WITHOUT A DOUBT - take the kids! But don't confuse DTD with PI (which is part of DTD, but nestled sort of inthe middle of it all). DTD is a plethora of shops, restaurants and attractions. PI is more adult-oriented, with dance clubs, etc., but there are some pretty nice shops there, as well. In DTD, though, we love the World of Disney store (the biggest Disney merchandise store in the world, they say), the Virgin Megastore, the Disney at Home shop, plus a lot of other neat places (the Legos store is really fun for wee folk). Planet Hollywood and Rainforest are two of our fave places to eat in the Kindgom. We don't care for Disneyquest, but lots of people do and it's there as well. and the AMC 24-screen theater is one of the nicest around (Yes, we have actually gone to the movies at WDW. In fact, we saw Pirates of the Caribbean there. It was kind of cool to watch the movie and then go on the ride the same day!)
Good luck and have fun (how can you help but have fun in the happiest place on earth?) ![]()
