Ideas for special treat or splurge

My DS (8) and I are going to WDW in February for 4 nights. We have been several times but never just the 2 of us. We are booked at PC and I decided as a treat to upgrade to WL or AK. He does not want to - he is set on PC. We watched the disney DVD and went thru all the different resorts and he is still set on PC. We will not really spend a lot of time at the resort anyway.

On previous trips we have ate in the castle and watched wishes from O'Hana's, and this trip we are dining with Pooh at Crystal Palace and going back to O'Hana's , Alfredos and Sci-Fi.

Since my DS does not want to upgrade resorts, I need some ideas of another splurge we can do to make the trip special. Any ideas?

How about the pirates adventure for your son? Or dinner or breakfast at Chef MIckey's? Both are a lot of fun. Have you ever done the Hoop de doo review show? That is a great time, also. My girls love it.

Re: Ideas for special treat or splurge

Well it depends on whether you want to splurge in the park or out of the park. If you want to splurge in the park you could always do a fireworks cruise from Y&B or Boardwalk where they actually take you over to EPCOT to watch Illuminations. My other choice for out of park would be a dinner at Boma's at AKL, you still visit the resort and get to see the savannah as well as an amazing buffet!

Crystal palace is a splurge all in itself! lol My fam and i were daring and spent a WHOLE day at mk and ate at crystal palace TWICE. It practically put us in the poor house! lol I cant think of any other splurges, but i'll let u know if i do. if he was a girl, u could buy him expensive jewelry... but he is not. o well. lol

Re: Ideas for special treat or splurge

I'm not sure it's really a 'splurge', but how about having you and DS photos taken by the WDW photographers at the front of each of the parks? It would make for nice memories!

If it is open right now (Soarin construction issue), the Ice Cream Social is a really fun an inexpensive splurge. My kids love going there!!

Re: Ideas for special treat or splurge

I bet he would love the Pirates Adventure.

Also, how about adding the Fantasmic package to your MGM dinner reservations one night? You get escorted to the fireworks show after you eat, so you get great seats!

You might also enjoy taking him to Cirque du Soleil (Avoid the first row! You'll see why when you are there!)

Re: Ideas for special treat or splurge

How about a night of Miniature Golf at Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland. Then head over to Beaches N Cream (Yacht/Beach Club) for a "Huge" ice cream snack. We did this last year and our 8 yo DS loved it. He asked to do it again this trip.

Re: Ideas for special treat or splurge

Why avoid the first row? I saw Mystere in Las Vegas and it was awesome..... Does Circue Du Soleil fly by (time wise) and did Mystere? We wanted to see "O" but they were dark......
